I have had this hob for about 9 months now. When we originally got it we noticed that despite the lock function being engaged the timer buttons could still be pressed. Since the function of the lock is to lock all the keypad we assumed this was a fault and so did smeg they replaced the hob. Only to find that the replacement item did exactly the same! After several calls from engineering etc they declared this is as it is supposed to be!? Really annoying every time you cleat he hob the timer constantly switches itself on and of increments itself etc....! After 9 months this is unbearable. The hob itself looks nice the heating elements do seem to take a while to get pans hot. Wish I had bough a neff now, to match the oven.

Yes the timer constant beeping is still driving me mad, when you wipe a cloth over it turns on. Also if you slide a pan over the controls when you take a pan off the hob it turns the whole hob off. Another great feature, SMEG NOT.
WHat is even more annoying the smeg hob cut out are larger than other manufacturers so replacing it means replacing the granite work surface too.
GOD I HATE THIS HOB.
