As someone with a very busy life, the online course was something I looked in to. The course and exam were very good and I was able to sign in and sign out, this allowed me to study when I had any free time. The sign up and payment procedure were quick and efficient. I would recommend this way of achieving a recognised qualification. (read more)

If you insert a reflection at this point, then click "Finish", the page returns to start and not to finish. If you click finish again then the reflection box appears on the Graph/percentage page. Very expensive website for what you get. Passmedicine is cheaper and better. Explanations to questions and anwers are short and not much thought has gone into them! I have done all questions from onexamiantion.com and passmedicine.com. The ones from passmedicine.com are more like the ones that come up in AKT and have better explanations! (read more)

The multiple-choice questions for Stage 2 GPVTS were nothing like the actual exam. The mix of questions was entirely wrong (eg hardly anything on pharmacology when that featured heavily in the exam). Though I have used onexamination in the past and liked it, I really feel it's not worth the money for GPVTS prep! (read more)

I have used this resource studying for exams throughout my clinical years and have found it an invaluable revision tool. I particularly like that you can select the topics you would like to be tested on, which fitted in nicely after a session revising a particular topic and allowed me to fill in any gaps. This feature also meant that I was able to select topics when revising for my specialities year and I would imagine that this would be useful regardless of which university you attend as... I really enjoyed the BMJ bank of questions for the FRACGP exam. When I didn't feel like writing notes or reading articles, I found that sitting down to do a set of multiple-choice questions was more easily tolerated! I thought they were quite a good standard - in fact, they were much harder than the Australian AKT/KFT which I must say, was embarrassingly easy for a college examination. My criticisms are: 1. Often several questions about the same disease will appear one after another on... (read more)

The questions are challenging which is good, but on the other hand, some are very difficult. It does make you feel like you don't know anything even if on other websites you are scoring well, so I'm not sure that the level is right for undergraduate medical students. Definitely don't buy the videos, they are way too expensive for what they are which is ancient, short and old fashioned. They don't cover much and I felt a bit ripped off frankly. (read more)

The questions are not really indicative of those we get in the exams; onexamination seems obsessed with eponymous syndromes. It also scared a lot of people into thinking they would have an awful performance in the exams unnecessarily, so don't worry if it gives you a low grade! That said, it did make revision slightly more varied and the graphs/charts make it more fun. It is very user-friendly and they do provide good customer service. Overall, probably not worth the high price when there... (read more)

Very good exam resource, have already recommended it to friends who have signed up. Just one issue that needs fixing, it times out in between answering questions, which interrupts the flow of study and the motivation. It's not my internet that is timing out, as I've opened other pages whilst waiting for pages to load and there is no issue with them. Please fix this issue. Plus, the timer continues despite the fact that you have submitted your response, which makes it a bit pointless. If... (read more)

Used for medical school finals, MRCP parts 1 and 2. Completed 2000 finals questions, all 4000 part 1 and all 2500 part 2 questions. All MRCP topics covered. Good repetition, in different formats, of most common questions. Percentage score representative of what you'll achieve in exam. Ability to get a break down on which topics you're good/bad at. Most explainations sufficient for what you need for exam; where the explaination or links are poor there is always a repeat question with a better... (read more)

I did the majority of my AKT revision with onexamination (O/E). The interface was good, and by and large the material was appropriate. However, the weekend before my exam I switched to passmedicine (as it was only £20 for 4 months - much much cheaper than onexamination) to get a different question bank. I actually found passmedicine much better in terms of question feedback/learning and the ability to do timed tests. The material on statistics and practice management was also far superior... 4 1/2 Stars if possible...There are a couple of Minor points that stop me giving it five stars. If you're going to provide a link after a question to a source to read more about it, I dont want to be referred to wikipedia - I can do that myself. Most of the time the link is to wikipedia, emedicine, or GP consult, which is OK...but sources could be a lot better. I was introduced to this site for the exit FRCS exam in general surgery. To be honest and, as I pointed out to the concerned people running the show, it fell a lot short. The questions were substandard compared to the ones in the exam. The topics are covered poorly. There are many questions in the Miscellaneous category. System wise topics are deficient. There is no proper guideline. The Exit exam is in a different league and there is no website as yet that comes close to it. Unfortunately... (read more)

This was a very useful resource in the lead-up to finals. It also allowed for a bit of variety during long days of revision, doing a few questions in between long sessions reading. It is very useful to be able to choose the topic you've currently been revising and also to be able to revisit questions you have done before. However, some questions, although the question being different, the accompanying image or other data is the same as a previous question so in fact, it isn't testing new... (read more)

It's a good resource with plenty of questions. They are generally well written and the information that accompanies them is well-written, concise and pertinent. However, it wouldn't be hard to make it into an app for iPhone and HTC, and I feel this is a major oversight given the high price of the service. Well laid out website, easy to use with a large bank of questions, good value on the face of it. However, most of the questions were nowhere near the level required in the exam itself - I felt very unprepared! Some were out of date (by up to 10 years!), not all had explanations to complete the learning, and they were definitely not useful as a resource to revise for this exam. I can imagine that for medical students it would be good, but anything higher, I'd think twice. (read more)

I have tried OnExamination on several occasions and I do admit that it was more than helpful when I was preparing for my exams (PLAB and MRCS). One of its very useful tools is the candidate's performance chart stressing on the points of weakness and how a candidate compares to others preparing for the same exam. OE practice questions accurately reflect the full products. The explanations are accurate, clinically relevant and easy to understand. Furthermore, the answers detail exactly why you would not pick a and why b is better. I have questioned OE's answers a few times and always receive prompt, knowledgable and evidence based answers regardless of how trivial my question. I have really valued the BNF course for medical students and, with the free BNF, it was well worth the money. I think this... (read more)
