I have just received a review of my TV script from Industrial Scripts. It was really very insightful honest & inspiring. The reader had clearly spent a lot of time delving into every aspect of the script and characters. Then penning a review in such a way that it, not only, reveals the strengths and weaknesses of the piece as it stands but also how to proceed to fix those weaknesses. Thank you very much. My missing star is purely from an administrative point of view - I was otherwise completely happy with the course, the instructor's knowledge, the delivery and the course materials. I only managed to get a spot on the Effective Script Reading Course due to a last-minute cancellation. I'd understood from the reply to my email enquiry that as soon as I paid the fee I would be sent the pre-course materials and unfortunately this did not happen (yes, I checked my Junk Mail folder) so I was not... I had very little knowledge of the role of a script reader, and this course gave me a fantastic overview of the job and its function within the industry. The course tutor was engaging, very well informed and approachable, which made the day very interesting and enjoyable overall. I feel like I'm now armed with the right information to be able to confidently approach a production company and offer to read scripts - which was my main aim. (read more)

I attended the Screenwriting Course For Beginners I don't normally bother to write reviews, but in this case I felt the least I could do was to express how thoroughly satisfied I was with this course. It was thorough and was taught in a professional manner. I now feel comfortable enough to begin writing. I would recommend this... (read more)

Over the course of just one day, participants were given an honest and very comprehensive overview of the craft of screenwriting, the basic elements of film language, how to approach screenwriting as a beginner and guidance on how to navigate the industry. The outlook was pragmatic and realistic yet positive, I felt full of beans afterwards and excited about the ideas I want to work on rather than daunted by them. I was genuinely impressed with the quality and quantity of the report I received on my screenplay. I have had just my report back from Industrial Scripts and I amazed at the depth of the feedback. The consultant went above-and-beyond with the range of analysis and has given much to do for the next draft – plus a few films I will need to download and watch. I'm always sceptical of the script reading services industry that surrounds up and comers in the UK. There are a lot of people out there claiming to be script editors who have no real world experience who take cash from new writers for sub quality feedback. Happily the Industrial Scripts feedback was at the other end of the spectrum. The report was thorough, insightful and even though, as always with any subjective feedback, there were bits I didn't agree with, it was clear the person who... (read more)

I highly recommend the services of Jon Gilbert from Industrial Scripts, and Industrial in general. We originally went to the company for a Dry Run report on a project we were developing, and received a 'Consider' verdict. Although we were pleased with this feedback we felt as though the script could benefit from some further edits, and so hired Jon Gilbert for his Script Doctoring services. I decided to go for the final dry run industry report as a way of stress testing my script to the max and was very pleased with the feedback I had from the assessor. It gave me a much better idea of how readers approach scripts and the comments on the piece itself were useful, although it was unclear whether they'd listened to the sample of music I sent (which was pretty much central to the concept). Those of us who take on the task of writing a screenplay should first be aware of one salient fact. In the film making process, the screenwriter is the first to be criticised and the last to be praised. At times it feels like a thankless endeavour. We all like to think that what we are writing will be seen as a masterpiece. But we look at it subjectively - and with one pair of eyes. To come up with a really successful screenplay, you need the benefit of someone else's opinion. Someone who... (read more)
