The course was a fantastic introduction to script reading and how to write a professional script coverage. As someone with no experience of the film industry I was quite nervous at my lack of knowledge but was pleasantly surprised when our course leader, Jon, referred to several well known films that I had watched before. The course was really insightful and taught me to think about things on the periphery of what typically makes a good film, i.e. thinking about the emotions stirred when watching a film, that the actions of the characters can often say more than dialogue and that the really successful films tap into the nerve of the public perception of the world at that time of release (The Godfather being the example provided). I would highly recommend the course as intro to script reading, but be prepared for the long slog afterwards in getting employment as a professional script reader! A tip for anyone thinking of attending the course, watch the film tootsie!
