Item: Editors, The Back Room
Editors, The Back Room is the best guitar album of 2005. In fact the guitar work in this reminds you of early U2. This band will be big. This album is very, very good.

It's really very silly how much I have grown to adore the Editors since I first heard them about 7 months ago. They're a young Birmingham band that sound a bit like Interpol, a bit like Joy Division or the Chameleons or Echo & the Bunnymen or any range of dark, broody, slightly gothic '80's acts. They write melancholic, angry songs that range from the soon to be indie disco classics "Blood" and "Munich" to the quieter and more serene Elbow or Doves-influenced "Fall." They excel at writing ...

Blood is the Editors' third single, preceding the release of their first album in a few days and it doesn't really deviate very far from the dark, broody jangly-indie-goth-rock feel of the first two.
Built around the biting chorus of "Blood runs through your veins, that's where our similarity ends" the song's narrator berates a broken promise amidst images of red neon, broken streetlights and dirty city streets.
