Having a driving license from abroad, I never thought of obtaining a UK one. After all, I never intended to own or drive a car in the UK. Recently, I found out that many of the 'smaller' car rental companies would only rent out to UK/EU drivers.

As I was having some spare time during my breaks, I was wondering maybe I should get a UK licence. It would give me the opportunity to rent a car and visit the countryside or further out with the added convenience of the car. What better a way to explore UK than by road.

Basically, the whole process is fast and simple. I first called carcaptain and spoke to Yolanda to discuss my situation, and tailor a program for me to obtain a UK license as I did not need as many hours. They were understanding of my situation and were able to arrange everything that i needed.... theory test and lessons were arranged for within the next week. During the lesson, my instructor was able to evaluate my standard and build on what I already knew. As soon as I was completing my intensive lessons ( I had 3 hours almost everyday for 2 weeks), carcaptain managed to book the test for me within the next week. I even amused my friends who started having lessons before me and yet have to wait 6 weeks or so for their test.

Kudos also to the very knowledgeable driving instructor assigned to myself Million and it was well worth travelling a bit further for quality lessons. Million was always punctual and was excellent as he acknowledged there were many ways of getting the same maneuver done, so it was pretty much what works best for me. As a result, I was able to pass my practical on the first go with only one minor fault
