Before using 5day, I had failed my test three times. It's so demoralising to fail your driving test - and piles on the pressure, especially when you have other commitments such as studying. The thought that I had to get my driving test done and dusted was always at the back of my mind.
I discovered 5day simply through researching intensive driving companies in Norwich on the internet. Previously, I had used another company and had done a couple of hours a week. The driving instructor I did this with was good - but I would definitely recommend intensive courses from my own experience, where I found it more suited to me than only doing a couple of hours a week over an extended period of time.
5day is centrally located and I found the office staff helpful and understanding. You complete classroom-based learning for around 45 minutes before you venture out into the practical driving session (I already had the theory test certificate before using 5day, this classroom-based learning is supplementary to the practical course and has nothing to do with the theory test course). Some people might be apprehensive about this, but I found it extremely helpful and it is something few driving schools offer. The instructor was knowledgeable and it enables you to get to grips with the Highway Code and how to respond to situations when driving.
One rather unique thing I liked about 5day is that they give you a questionnaire where you can specify the type of style/attitude you want your driving instructor to display (from pushing you to your limit to being more laid back). This is great as it allows you to decide how you want to be taught, as the instructors are given this questionnaire.
My instructor was great - he built my confidence and helped me to improve where I had been faltering.
The only caveat I would offer is that you should probably have some basic driving experience before using 5day, as opposed to someone who has never been behind a steering wheel. You don't need to be anywhere near a pro, but it just helps when you are thrust into the busy roads of Norwich.
In conclusion, I would definitely recommend 5day. Having to pay for the entire course (as opposed to say smaller amounts for individual lessons) can be a bit daunting, but the fact that they offer free, unlimited lessons if you fail sealed it for me and in my view makes 5day good value for money. Even though I passed soon after completing the course, to have the free lessons to fall back on if I failed was certainly a reassurance and took some pressure off.
