I am of the same opinion as the author of this topic review. while watching it I wanted to get up or fall asleep but still waited till the end. I am not for such violent movies but it was based on true events, so this could not be avoided. Brad Pitt for a few minutes made me a little more positive, still I watched this film being afraid of what may happen next.

I was looking forward to this film but it is the first film I have wanted to get up and walk out. The violence was too graphic and too long. There was no need for it to be like that. My husband felt the same we felt very uncomfortable watching it. Would be interesting to see the original and compare.

The movie is about slavery.... It was never going to be sweetness and light. Too violent? Is it any harsher than the reality of that time. I doubt it. It would have been a disservice and perhaps even a slight to those who suffered to dress this issue up as anything it was not just so we might not be offended.

My Husband agrees but I thought it was one of the best films I have ever seen and that it needed to be said.
