“Door Centr DIY - Insolvent ?”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/01/2014

As there must be many disgruntled customers, as he is not taking calls or emails, has anyone had sucess in contacting Door Centre DIY? Unhelpfully, DoorCentreDIY still has not contacted Companies House, checked again as of 06/01/14, to advise them that they are not trading, and they do not appear to have contacted amd registered receivers to deal with their creditors or customers. Anyone with more information, or progress please share!!

I am certainly a disgruntled customer - no, a victim! My order was due to be delivered om 19th February but did not arrive, and a look at their website revealed why! However, I have yet to hear from a liquidator - so much for 48 hours. I referred the matter to the Stoke-on-Trent Police, who have been most unhelpful and have several times told me that what this company has done is quite legal and I must contact the liquidator. Hoiwever, there doies not appear to be a liquidator and the authorities do not seem to care. I would be pleased to hear if you become aware of any change in the situation or wish to take some form of action. I will be happy to co-operate.

I am no expert but following advice, please email Companies House and ask them to not to strike off the company. The write to door centre for breach of contract. There is a template on the trading standards site. Wait seven or fourteen days, then issue court papers. Very straight forward online. Takes 15 mins and £85. Will it make any difference ? Hopefully, the judgements will not be defended and will force something to happen. Bailiffs? Attachments to earnings? Will need to get move advice at this point. Has anybody had any movement yet, or any success.

I have also lost over £600 on 3/12/2013. I have since spoken to companies house and the insolvency department. This company is not insolvent or bankrupt, they are about to be struck off by companies house due to business practices.

To stop the company being dissolved every one that has lost money should send an email directly to companies house objecting to this happening until you have been refunded. The company number you need is 8172731 for door centre diy
send email to companies house and is subject field write objection to strike off.
I also spoke to trading standards and have opened a file with them as I have sent several emails to him and voice mails but no response, not got the guts to deal with anybody but happy to take our money.

hope this help any one in same situation.

We are down nearly 2k on windows. I am a little confused why asking Companies House to prevent DoorCentreDIY from going insolvent will help.
As DoorCentreDIY are uncontactable, are you planning to take them to court? If they are in financial difficulty, I assume they will go bankrupt anyway.
What was Trading Standards response?

I have check with companies house and they have suspended striking off this company. The company has not gone insolvent. I spoke directly with the insolvency department and there is nothing going on with this company no insolvency, they are not going into bankruptcy the company ceased trading due to not returning paper work to companies house, That is why I told previous review to register their object to strike off until their dispute is resolved. We can stop the company being dissolved by objecting until full resolution has been made. If we stop the company being dissolved, their debt will not disappear they will have to resolve all the objections first.

When I spoke to trading standards their info was about a company going insolent, THIS COMPANY AND (COMPANY DIRECTOR) ARE STILL SHOWING AS ACTIVE COMPANY AND DIRECTOR. I also have a case open with action fraud and will be emailing my story to watchdog. There are rules this company must follow and if they are not insolvent why have then close their website and stated all creditor will be contacted. there has been no administrators requested to deal with this company.

You could also contact consumer helpline to see if they can help. I will continue and use every avenue to get my money back, I may also take it to court

“Avoid At All Costs”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Abbaman on 18/12/2013

Do not trust anything they say, don't care attitude, no customer service. Door delivered with no protective packaging. Inner panel too big to fit into outer frame.Should have been in frame ready to install. Our installer had to cut quite abit off inner panel to make it fit. No fixing kit supplied. Buy from this company at your peril. Will always go to a reputable shop in future. Wished we had read the other reviews first before ordering.

“Good product for price but poor customer service”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 11/12/2013

Ordered my patio doors October '12. Three separate promised delivery dates were missed. Finally delivered in December with scratches on glass. Gave up on trying to get the glass replaced around June after chasing several times. The handles started corroding before the end of January. I was assured when I bought the doors that the handles were suitable for a coastal location and covered by a 12 month guarantee but they were only replaced in October after resorting to weekly reminders. The new ones deteriorated as quickly as the originals. To be fair, apart from the handles, a good product for the price but spoilt by rubbish after-sales. Will not use them again.

“AVOID at all costs. You will lose your money. I...”

written by sharesum on 07/12/2013

AVOID at all costs. You will lose your money. I ordered and paid for windows 5 weeks ago and have received nothing. Won't answer my calls or emails and they obviously think they will get away with it. But I am going to make them pay. I have tracked them down and know who they are. I will be paying them a visit next week and they'll wish they'd never heard of me. I suggest you all do the same if you have been ripped off by these people.

“AVOID - Never had such a bad experience with a company.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 28/11/2013

Quick to take the payment for 2 doors even phoning next day to confirm the order. Then it starts to go wrong. Delivery days come and go. Our doors went through.. "yes they are made just waiting for the glass" to.. "they will be sent tommorow" to.. "computer glitch, order not started yet" which put us back weeks with the christmas holidays looming. they have lied to us and given different stories every time we phoned - thats if they would answer the phone - had to resort to using different phone numbers etc!!!! On one day they changed their story from "they have been sent this morning" to they are 2 hours away" AND NO DELIVERY EVER TURNED UP!. Avoid at all costs. Currently having to get credit card refund via the bank. Im thinking of driving up to Stoke-on-Trent tommorow and seeing how well they lie face to face.

“Composite door failure!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hoops69 on 20/11/2013

After more than three weeks of failed promises to deliver a new door, it took me contacting the actual door manufacturer to gain any response from Doorcentrediy who refused to send any e-mails thus leaving us with no paper trail of the transaction. Doorcentrediy were quick to take payment but then made empty promises about delivery and rarely phoned back when promised. As mentioned above, I eventually had to contact the door manufacturer they use to get any form of response. This was by way of total refund and a mumbled telephone message stating they had made many errors with the order and it couldn't be completed. Heed the advice of myself and the two other reviewers - AVOID THIS COMPANY!!

Hoops69 - Have you got the door manufacturers details. As DoorCentreDIY are not contactable, I would like to directly contact the manufacturer for the building control, and secure by design certificate and ensure I have a year warrantee.

The door is made by a company called Door-Stop. They will usually only deal directly with trade customers.

In the end I ordered from another supplier who also use door-stop and it all arrived on time thus proving that issue was with DIY Door Centre rather than Door-Stop.

“Absolutely shocking !”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hackedoffcustomer on 20/11/2013

Words fail me to describe this company. I ordered a door on 28/10/2013 from Door Centre DIY and was assured the door would be delivered within 5-10 days. The only option to pay for this door was by google wallet, which then charges you an extra 2.4% even for paying by debit card. I rang to confirm delivery after 7 days due to having to take time off work to take delivery, told another week due to the " specialist glass ". Another week comes and goes, still no door. Told another week due to demand from the supplier was high. Assured delivery would be today 20/11/2013. 2 days before due delivery, I rang to confirm and was told they would ring me back.. They didn't ! Day before delivery, was assured it would be delivered the following day but they would call be back. They didn't. On the day of delivery which I had to take another day off work, voicemail saying I had been refunded as delivery had failed due to a " catalogue of errors " by this company. If the door had ever been produced and was due to be delivered, this would certainly not have happened. My boyfriend also made several calls and was fobbed off by this company. He then rang pretending to be another customer ordering a door and was assured it would only take 5-10 days and Thermal Glass wasn't a speciality ! Several emails were sent requesting written confirmation, they refused to reply. This company will lie through their teeth and give very misleading information to customers. On average, it has taken 13 calls just to speak to someone, and the main sales man even denied speaking to me over delivery dates ! No apologies, and no explanation as to why the door failed to materialise. I told them I had seen reviews on this company and had I seen it earlier I wouldn't have ordered from them ! They seemed surprise that people have taken the time to expose this company for what they really are .. AVOID AVOID AVOID like the plague. I was reluctant to even give it 1 star rating but there is no other option !

“3 weeks waiting for nothing with zero customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by nathw240188 on 07/10/2013

I contacted Door Centre DIY to enquire as to whether they could supply the particular design of composite door I required. They ensured me they could and it would be a 10 working day turn-around. I placed the order, and after the 10 days I contacted them to find out when the door would be delivered as I had heard nothing. They then told me that due to the manufacturing process for my outward opening door, that it was going to be another 10 working days till delivery. I was frustrated, but started to wait once more for my door. After the second 10 working days, I again had to ring up because no contact had been made at any stage from them to update me on any progress of the door. When I phoned up, the guy said he would look into it and phone me back. Half an hour later I had heard nothing, so I rang back. This is when I was told, "oh yes, we've just been talking about your order - unfortunately your door can't be made"... So it takes them 3 weeks to realise that they can't even make the door I specifically enquired about in the first place. I then had to pester them for my money back. At no point was I given an apology or offered anything by means of a good will gesture etc. In summary, avoid this time wasting company and spend your money somewhere else.

“On line DIY double glazing supplier, poor customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by CorbettProperties on 10/07/2013

Ordered a double glazed door from this company with a 10-15 working day turn around quoted. They are quick to process your payment and after a couple of days receive an email to say they will start processing your order. No subsequent contact after the 15 working days. Contacted the company, apparent problem with the glass, delivery in another week, 21 days. Day stated and never turned up. Contacted the company, glass broken on route, will have to send out another, add 1 more week. Nothing in the way of an apology for not contacting me. New delivery date specified, will confirm day before, no contact again. Dya of delivery, nothing by mid afternoon, contact company, delivery after 5pm - not requested and not ideal. 6pm nothing still, suprised to find someone in the office, although I had tried 4 telephone numbers before. Driver will be there by 7pm. Again no apologies, partially refund dismissed off-hand. Would not deal with these amateurs again, advise you steer clear!
