“Great work done by a great team of tradespeople ”

★★★★★

written by GaryWaugh182 on 02/01/2023

We've had our windows, soffits and fascias as well as our conservatory replaced by Crystal Windows. From the consultation and quote, through to fitting we can only speak highly of the quality of the work and service carried out by the lovely team of fitters. We would highly recommend to our friends and family and to anyone that needs any of the services offered.

“You get what you pay for! ”

written by LinaK on 02/01/2023

We shopped around a bit for a quote to redo our conservatory which needed substantial work. Some were cheaper but we got a hard sales pitch. With Carlton, our Crystals sales rep we felt listened to all the way through. He even offered some creative solutions to what we can accomplish. The surveyor and the construction builders were all pleasant, clean and professional. Though we went on the pricier side, we feel we got exactly what we paid for with great quality and great end product.

“3 months experience”

★★★★★

written by Laureldene on 10/08/2017

We are delighted with this change to our (24m2)conservaotry. Installatin was excellent although it did need a revisit to secure a screw and sealing items. We did have a polycarbonate roof and the rain was very noisy - much quieter now. Despite loosing two roof openers the conservatory does not now get as hot as it did. Lighting is good and the only item we remark about is that there is some movement in hot sunny days resulting in the occasional creak. The additional good point is that where the sheets meet the gutters on the roof they are neet and easier to clean.

OK, we now have almost a year's experience with Thermotec in our conservatory and my original comments continue to be valid. Even today in the cold Baltic weather we had a comfortable coffee in the room.
Oh, yes, our cats love it.

“Technically the best and ticks all the boxes.”

★★★★★

written by Les48 on 14/01/2016

My main purpose in writing this review is to focus on the product, which ultimately is the most important factor in making a purchase decision. Before doing so I would like to say that I 100% endorse all the positive comments made about the Staff at Crystalroofs in other reviews. Our problem was that we bought our house as a new build with a conservatory open plan into the kitchen and the whole area was impossible to keep comfortably warm in the winter. Its north facing so doesn't get too hot in the summer. How the builder ever got this passed by the building inspector is a complete mystery. The conservatory is a lean to type built into an internal corner of the house so it only has 2 external walls. After calculating the heat losses I installed additional heating but from a cold start on a frosty morning it would take 5 hours to get to 20 degrees and would lose temperature very quickly as soon as the heating was turned off. I realised that it was just like trying to fill a bucket with a big hole in it. My calculations showed that more than 50% of the heat loss was going through the polycarbonate roof so decided that an insulated roof was needed. I then embarked on a considerable amount of research to find the best solution. There are many product offerings on the market ranging from wood and plasterboard, which are screwed into the aluminium roof spars and possibly lead to water leaks and cracking to light weight tiled roofs, which are look good but also massively expensive. I found many companies making exaggerated (probably illegal) claims about their u values. I wanted to avoid the cost of a new roof frame so at first looked at self-cleaning glass panels. These didn't offer much insulation improvement but looked very nice, however I was told by the technical people at the roof frame manufacturer that my frame was not strong enough to withstand the weight of the glass. Worryingly some of our neighbours with similar conservatories have had glass roofs fitted and I had no problem obtaining quotes from local installers to fit glass. I then looked at other alternatives and very soon concluded that the Crystal Rooftec product was the only one that ticked all the boxes in terms of insulation properties, weight and appearance. So our decision was made and our new roof was installed. We went for a white on the inside to match the existing spar capping and a mid-grey colour on the outside, so it wouldn't show the dirt too much. We are very pleased with the appearance and haven’t noticed much loss of light. On a cold cloudy day the room feels much cosier than it did with the see through polycarbonate roof. Eleven months on and we are very pleased with every aspect of the new roof. We can now get the conservatory and kitchen up to 20 degrees in less than 2 hours and it takes a lost less heat to keep it there. My only regret is that it took me 12 months to make the decision. We have also noticed frequent visitors to our home tend to gravitate to the conservatory as opposed to the lounge, as in the past. In conclusion if you’re looking to insulate your conservatory roof I strongly recommend you give Crystal Rooftec serious consideration.

“Fast Professional Service!”

★★★★★

written by Jaden.B on 07/11/2015

The whole process of the purchase from Crystals was smooth. The sales person was professional and explained the products and sample. We were given time to ask as many questions as we needed. Choices of payment methods were also explained. The surveyor was booked and came at the time stated. The window fitters were also booked as the order was made. They were professional, punctual and friendly. Follow up customer service has been great. We needed to have a visit for a small issue. Crystal booked a visit as soon as the call was logged. They came on time and made the adjustment. All of the guarantees also arrived by post extremely quick. Excellent service.

“Conservatory roof”

★★★★★

written by Jeez1 on 06/11/2015

We tend to use our conservatory a lot, but find even with heating it's just not comfortable enough with the glass roof we had in the winter. So we decided to take the plunge, and have to say are so impressed so far. The two fitters arrived pretty late on Monday 2nd November after driving through horrendous fog and massive traffic jams, but that didn't stop them from completing the job, working under flood lights till 7.30pm. They were friendly, respectful of our property, and jolly hardworking. As for the new roof, well the temperature without heating is up by 2/3degrees first thing in the morning, and it was pretty chilly outside the first day I decided to check this. We have a heat exchanger which would normally be running at around 23 to make the room warmish, so far when we have put it on it's been set at 20/21, making the room temp rise to 60degrees in no time, I think the most important thing to mention here, is the room heats up quickly and holds the temperature. Our conservatory has now become another room which will be used throughout winter, it's cosier somehow. I have taken photos of before and after, including when the work was being done. Unfortunately I don't think I can upload them on here. If you are thinking of replacing your roof, my advise would be to do it.

“We have been completely happy with the entire service...”

We have been completely happy with the entire service from initial visit onwards. Scaffolders came when they said they would, fitters were excellent and remained cheerful throughout despite horrendous weather conditions. There were 2 panes that were cracked on the van but were replaced the next day. All in all we were very happy and would recommend to anyone wanting their windows replaced. We felt we got a very competitive price.

Very impressed with the look and presentation of the windows overall and I'm also impressed that they cleaned the mess up after themselves. Not time consuming meaning that we could go out afterwards without worrying about the time and it being to late. Staff that fitted the windows were friendly.

“Easy clean and efficient”

★★★★☆

written by HowardLevesque381 on 11/09/2015

Everything went according to plan with cutting out a back window and replacement with doors. 6hoirs in and out and clean up was great. They came when agreed and explained the process as they went. The finish was ideal and the doors are exactly as hoped. I would definitely recommend them, and the finance package was good too, making it affordable to get doors in when I wanted them. Two guys came, smashed my back doors in, and filled my hole. Can't argue with that.

“Excellent service from start to finish”

★★★★★

written by Kaseya69 on 09/09/2015

We had Crystal Windows replace our all windows from old wooden double glazed to new upvc windows. From the Sales person that visited us to provide a quote, there was absolutely no pressure whatever and listened to our thoughts and idea's. He then provided options and recommendations which we had not considered and left us to think about their proposal. The two fitters were absolutely fantastic. The fitters were regular as clockwork and we were amazed how quickly they were fitted. The home feel more warm and next to no sound from the rail track. We would have no hesitation in recommending Crystal Windows if you are considering in having double glazing fitted or replaced.

“ conservatory rebuild”

★★★★☆

written by Cyrus390 on 05/09/2015

Very happy with the work done by the fitters, always polite and very tidy. We are pleased with the appearance of the finished work. However, we do feel that we were misled by your salesman over the time it would take to complete the installation. He also claimed that the glass used would reflect the sun's rays and keep the conservatory cool in the summer. This has proved not to be the case and the conservatory is much hotter than it was before. In fact on sunny days it is unusable. We now have to incur further expense in trying to rectify this.

“Beautiful Windows”

★★★★★

written by nfBarrett6 on 01/09/2015

The two guys who came to do my windows were on time, extremely polite, clean workers, let me know every step of the way what was happening I was sooooooo happy with the end result. My two negatives were my window installers were booked in for three days Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday I was told that they would take probably only 2 and half days but be prepared for three days on the 1st day they had to leave my job and go onto another job I felt a bit cheated but the job was day in three days. Last moan the letter box was the wrong one my installers did call cyrstal windows straight away but the person they needed to speak with was busy and did not get back to them - some hours later I spoke with crystal windows and the correct letter box was delivered to my house within half an hour. Sales reps have different percentage discounts they can offer - You may not always get the best deal.

“Our new windows”

★★★★☆

written by Brian.B on 31/08/2015

Lat year we changed the downstairs windows and this year we went for the top floor. The service was good. The fitters came on time and completed the job in 2 days as promised. The thing we did not like that the scaffolding stayed on the property for more than 7 days.

I'm looking to install thermotec panels in our conservatory but wondered if anyone could help with the pricing. The size is 12ft by 12ft and consists of 14 panels. I have no clue as to costings. Has anyone who has had it installed got any feedback?

Thanks for your response, did you use a national company or local to your area? We have had one quote and thought it was rather steep as I have received quotes cheaper to replace the whole roof! Thank u.

Thank you for your reviews. What sort of price should I expect to pay for a Thermotec roof? I understand it will depend on size but some experiences of those of you who have had fittings with a rough size of your conservatory would be helpful. With thanks

£6,659. For 16 panels. Best money I have ever spent. The conservatory was well used throughout winter and nobody noticed the lack of heat. The year before no one would use it. Hope this helps.

My conservatory is around 6m x3.5m and it cost just over £4000 I seem to recall. Very good value for money compared to glass which I was thinking of. Also so strong I have fitted a further 6 solar panels on top of it for even more benefit on these warmer sunnier days.

I can't remember the exact price - I think it was £2,600 for 5 off x 5m panels (we have a lean to conservatory). As the other answerer says - best money we ever spent. I was looking at having a new building which would have cost me many thousands to build but this turned out to be a cheaper and very satisfactory option. We have gone through 2 winters now and, except on the very coldest days, have used the conservatory. It is also less hot and more usable when we get those rare hot days.

£7,200 for 20 panels a year ago. Really glad we did it we have used the conservatory all year now whereas before it was hardly used as too hot or too cold. It is now our dining room and favourite sitting place in summer.

Is the existing roof glazing removed prior to fitting of the new panels and is the existing framework retained or replaced? Does the installer remove and dispose of the existing glazed panels if these are replaced? How are the new panels sealed from the elements along the edges? Also, does the work involve replacing the ridge system with new ( which I'd what I will need)?

The existing glazing is completely replaced by the panels but the frame stays the same. CrystalTec do a survey first to see if the rest of the building is worth doing, are there any leaks etc. If it is OK to proceed then a few days later the existing glazing is temporarily removed so that exact measurements can be taken. The panels take a few weeks to be made then it takes another day to fit. The edges of the panels are sealed with aluminium and the rubber strips on the existing roof bars seal to the aluminium the same as they would to the polycarbonate panels. The panels are formed to the same thickness as the polycarbonate at the edges. I don't know about your ridge - ours is a lean to conservatory - but I would imagine they'd have to strip your whole roof frame to replace. Their surveyor would tell you.
