We bought a Sony TV from Currys in February 2015 and it broke, despite very careful treatment in April 2016. The law (then Sale of Goods Act, but it's since changed) allows you to claim, among other things, if the goods are not durable and TV manufacturers say they should last at least five years, so I sued in the small claims court for the difference. But the court took a strict view of the proof I'd need that it was a manufacturing fault and said I'd have needed an expert's report to prove this, which the judge said could cost a four figure sum and refused the claim. But, you can only claim back £200 for an expert's report so even victory would cost you much more than the cost of the TV! So Currys are effectively above the law. Please, please buy from someone else.
