I purchased a double oven on the Comet clearence site. It was arranged to be delivered on the 7/10/12. On the 4/10/12 I received a telephone call to inform me that it would not be delivered at all as it had been damaged beyond repair in their warehouse. I explained that I had since removed and scrapped my existing oven and I needed a replacement or I would be without an oven. They offered me a choice of 2 replacements which I turned down as they were much lower specs and inferior brands. I now do not have a working oven and I am also £80 out of pocket as I had paid for an electrician to remove the old oven and install the new one.
When I complained to their customer service department the replies I received were shocking. For example they told me that it was their responsibility to put me back in the position I was in before the purchase therefore they would give me a full refund. When I explained that before I made the purchase I had a working oven and I had £80 in my pocket that has since been paid to an electrician their reply was "You were moving home so you arranged an engineer to remove your old cooker, and reinstall your new one at your new home. May I suggest that you ask your electrician for a partial refund as he has not installed your new cooker, so you have paid him for services not received." This was the reply even though the oven which was removed was in my new home not my old home and I had it removed because I thought I was having a new one delivered from Comet on the 7th!!
