“Disingenuous company terrible training. ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BOYCEEE on 26/01/2021

To anyone considering using this company training facility in Coventry please don't. They are Only after your money and do not care about pet welfare. If you do consider them Visit the Centre and make sure you see the boarding Conditions your pet will be kept in. Get in writing both the facilities and training standards they will provide and an assurance that you can visit your pet at anytime to check out both the training he is receiving and the Conditions he his being kept in. Our pet dog was not well looked after and the training he received was abysmal, and along with the disingenuous communication we received from the owner and his staff it proved to be a very distressing time.

“Royvon Dog training, Coventry.DISENGENOUS, POOR TRAINING”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 28/05/2018

STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY, ONLY AFTER MONEY. Due to our dog getting stressed and nervous when surrounded by lots of people and by noisy heavy traffic We booked him on to 3 week "Behaviour modification programme", at Royvon, Coventry. Our decision was based on looking at videos that they posted of other dogs on the same programme, information on there site and further information and advice we were given by there staff when we made enquiries. Prior to starting programme We paid £30.00 for a 45 minute assessment which only lasted for 20 min when the trainer left us and did not return, and at no time did she handle our dog.(No refund offered). They informed us that they would start working with him within the first couple of days as this would help him to settle in, That the programme would include obedience training as per the videos they post on Facebook,That he would be given regular offsite visits/exposer to the his problem areas to build his confidence. Both there site and staff advised us we would get regular video, email and telephone updates so that we could see his progress and how he was. After a visit by ourselves, looking at pictures posted(NO VIDEOS) and information supplied by his trainer it was clear that he had not been exposed to his problem areas or even left the compound and due to trainers days of this situation continued for two weeks. The trainers justification for this was that he was still bonding with her and the other staff. After emails and telephone discussions whereby we expressed our concerns and extreme disappointment Royvon promised as follows: 1.He would start to be taken out in the third week to experience the problem areas of heavy traffic and crowds of people, the place he was taken to was a small village not as busy as the roads he deals comfortably with on his walks at home, and not very often. 2.They said they would send us regular videos and emails to show his progress, we received ONE 1 minute video, and all contact had to be instigated by us. 3.We and other people we know of were told by there staff that the BM Programme included obedience training this was also confirmed by the videos they posted online, however there operations manager insisted obedience training was not part of the BM Programme, but she would arrange for a junior trainer to do extra work with our dog. Someone is lying, I think its the latter. 4.During the handover in the village to show us training techniques "which it seemed amounts to throwing lots of treats on the floor" and what progress he had made the trainer did not even have any poo bags and I had to stand guard over our dogs excrement whilst she went to get one. Again along with all other aspects VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. To try to get a balanced view I received advice from two fully qualified IMDT independent trainers who expressed astonishment about the time used for so called bonding. One of the trainers we arranged to visit with our dog, and not only had she bonded with him within a hour she actually started working with him and introduced him to a fairly busy road after 2 hours without him becoming stressed. I made a formal complaint presented them with numerous facts and timelines and requested they provided a full explanation in respect of the amount of bonding time, training schedule, offsite visit`s none of which they would answer. I have read various reviews and the responses from the chief executive of Royvon to numerous complaints are very dismissive. He and his operations manager skirts around issues and will not answer peoples questions fully and like his operations manager he is very disingenuous. I have read that People say he is only interested in the money and most certainly not concerned with providing a quality training programme. Our own dispute is on going and All I can say at this stage is that I have had the same dismissive response to our complaint, even to the point whereby he is now saying that what ever correspondence I send he will treat it with disdain and give me the same non response to our questions. He thinks he can just take peoples money, disregard complaints and treat people disrespectfully and that is the end of the matter, well I have not finished. KEEP AWAY FROM THIS SET UP and look deeper into review sites.

“3 week CTP for my young springer”

★★★★★

written by uptonollie on 28/11/2017

Stanley was very nervous of other dogs and new situations. However from the moment we entered the reception it was clear all the handlers and trainers were dog lovers. Following his progress on daily photos and updates the improvement in his socialisation was clear to see day by day. He also had issues with recall and lead work and although he has shown al lot of improvement we will undoubtedly take advantage of the follow up sessions offered by his trainer as he still has a little way to go . All in all I could not recommend them highly enough and it was obvious that all the dogs in their care were part of their family and when not training were around the centre enjoying the company of the staff and other residents. We will certainly be back either for boarding or training in the future.

“Highly recommend Royvon Training and Kennels Coventry ”

★★★★★

written by on 29/08/2017

I highly recommend Royvon Kennels, my Dog completed the 3 week training course in December, he's a changed dog as he had issues being around other dogs and kept pulling on his lead, we had regular updates from the trainer and daily photos/videos helped me keep up with his progress, then a thorough training session for myself and partner before he went home. I now use Royvon as my regular boarding kennels as my dog is now happy with play times and socialising with other dogs while he's in boarding. just picked him up this weekend as he was one happy boy. Fabulous staff, see you soon.

“Wonderful residential Complete Training”

★★★★★

written by ConFred on 17/06/2017

Today we picked up our English Setter from Royvon Coventry, I will not name the wonderful trainer, but for us she has worked wonders, walking to heal was a nightmare, but after the handover training we now feel confident that we will be able to carry on the work put into our girl and in time I am sure we will achieve recall, we have, thanks to Royvon realised this is a Setter trait (very easily distracted) but with the follow up sessions we will get there. The training video and photos everyday were lovely to see not only our dog but all the other dogs, so happy and settled. I was very worried about leaving her for three weeks, yes I missed her, but now realise it was the best thing I could have done, for her and me. Everything was explained at handover at the beginning, and we feel we were listened to. It was so helpful to be taught the commands used and correct times to give treats, on the final day. I would definitely use Royvon Coventry again and would highly recommend them to friends and family. Thank you so much Royvon Coventry

“Amazing results and a happy dog”

★★★★★

written by AmandaWa on 22/03/2017

We deliberated long and hard about whether to send our 16 month old cockapoo into kennels for 3 weeks, he was very nervous around dogs after a couple of bad experiences in his not so distant past. This nervousness had developed into fear aggression and we were at the point where we dreaded meeting dogs on walks as Brutus would pull towards them and bark and snap. We had become masters at avoiding other dogs when out on the hills, constantly changing direction and trying to distract him away if another dog was getting too close. It was an exhausting experience all round and life with our beautiful, human loving, cuddly dog was not really much fun any more. I watched some videos of other dogs who had undergone the 3 week behaviour modification programme, and found myself actually in tears when it came to the part where these dogs were playing happily around other dogs. I realised I had never seen Brutus play with a dog -ever! What a tragedy. It was so difficult trying to change his mind set around other dogs, mainly because we felt unable to let him go near them as we were fearful of what he would do. We tried doing the treat thing, trying to turn each experience into a positive.. but when your dog is shaking and barking and adrenaline is running through him at a rate of knots, then he wasn't interested even in his favourite treats, he was just focussed on warning the other dog off, getting him to run away, protecting himself, and us.... it seemed a hopeless situation. To be honest, when I came across Royvon in Coventry whilst researching what on earth to do next, it seemed too good to be true... was it really possible to reprogramme his mind-set by removing his usual triggers and taking him out of his usual environment for 3 weeks? .....Well, yes it definitely has been possible, because yesterday we went and picked up our calm, happy, playful dog and the transformation has been astonishing. The whole experience from start to finish has been excellent. When we dropped him off he went off happily with one of the trainers and for the next 3 weeks we were sent masses of photos of him daily via Facebook along with videos of his training. We watched him transform from a scared looking sad dog who was obviously missing us into a happy, bouncy dog, full of life and playing quite happily with a group of different dogs every day. We couldn't believe it but his training and the excellent trainers have worked wonders. When we picked him up yesterday we were given a training session.. he was walking on a loose lead, not pulling, passing dogs quite happily. He was dealing really well with distractions and at the end of the training session we watched as the other dogs came in and they all played together. So, yes it is definitely possible and I can't recommend this place and programme enough. The trainers are really knowledgable, professional, very calm and obviously extremely passionate about dogs! It was very clear that Brutus had received a lot of love and cuddles during his time away. His tail did not stop wagging! Just back from his walk today, and wow it was so much calmer than usual. No barking or tenseness if we saw another dog, and walking really well on the lead. Amazing! We know now that we have a great, trustworthy place to send him for his hols when we go away. This course is worth every penny and we cannot recommend this place enough. A huge thank you to all the staff.

“Dog experts and peace of mind!”

★★★★★

written by 182Jordan on 20/03/2017

This is the second time our dog has stayed here. Firstly for dog obedience and then just boarding while we went on holiday. He loves it there and was really excited to go back. He didn't even turn round to look at us when we dropped him off. That's a great sign! Everyone worries about their dog when on holiday, but because photos/videos are posted every day, we could see him having a great time, mixing/playing with all the other dogs. I think it's great to get that constant feedback and reassurance that everything is ok. I have already recommended Royvon to friends and family. It's great to know that our dog is being well looked after and being cared for by people who love dogs and who know what they are doing!

“Cable's holiday”

written by 1961Jackson on 18/01/2017

I have always insisted that my dogs have to be able to go into kennels even though I have hated putting them in there. My wife and I have been absolutely delighted by Royvon Coventry, in particular by the fact that the dogs are allowed to socialise and that we were updated daily via facebook photos etc. The staff are obviously genuinely caring and hard working and it made our skiing holiday so much better knowing Cable was well cared for and happy. I can't praise Royvon highly enough. Well done and thank you.

“Wouldn't use anyone else.”

written by LillyandGizzy on 08/08/2016

Our dogs Lilly and Gizmo had never been in Kennels before and aged 10 and 8 respectively, finding someone we trusted enough to look after them was a big deal for us. Additionally Lilly and Gizmo are quite anti-social with other dogs resulting almost always in barking and occasionally aggressive behaviour. The Team at Coventry came with a personal recommendation from a friend who has had used their training and boarding services before. So Lilly and Gizmo went in for 8 nights and 9 days on a boarding and socialisation training package. In a nutshell we were overjoyed when we went to collect them and they were in a pen with approx 15 other dogs, just mingling and chilling out. No barking, no aggression....nothing! We've met several members of the Coventry Team, we could see how dedicated and experienced they are and the results speak for themselves.  She gave us some really useful advice on how to continue socialising the dogs, what to do and what not to do etc. Seeing Lilly and Gizmo with those other dogs made me realise that maybe it's not too late to be able to have the kind of walks we want and not the covert missions we've been having! And I personally feel a lot more confident about moving forward. The day after we picked the dogs up we went to Coobe Abbey and walked around the park meeting several other dogs on the way, something we haven't felt able to do for a very very long time. We've still got a lot of work to do but I'm amazed at the difference in such a short time. I'm really looking forward to working with the Coventry guys over the next weeks and months. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for any kind of boarding or training because they clearly know what they're doing. Being able to go on holiday guilt and worry free is priceless.

“DOG HOTEL”

★★★★★

written by Lolalewis on 03/12/2015

Best boarding kennels we have tried, very impressed as Lola was treated like a guest and not a dog. Staff very friendly with good 1-1 interaction and Lola enjoyed her 45 minute daily exercise. I loved the fact that my family and I could see her daily on Facebook. You only get what you pay for and I believe it was money well spent.

“Excellent Happy Place”

★★★★★

written by Lerouge on 14/09/2015

Sent my two dogs, Magic and Blossom, to the three-week training course. They needed it and I needed it. But they had never been to kennels before, so I was naturally apprehensive about leaving them and for so long. Needn't have worried as staff were friendly and reassuring on the phone and were welcoming kind and professional towards me and the dogs when we arrived. This continued and the daily photos were a joy to see. I'm sure my dogs were smiling ! The photos not only showed them enjoying themselves immensely when they had playtime with the other dogs,, they showed them being trained and reassured me that my specific requests for training were being addressed. They even went off-site to have more experiences, as I had wanted. On collection day I appreciated the one-to-one handover and the time and patience given to me, who was now learning too !! It's not cheap but it's worth every penny and has already changed my life.

“disappointed”

★☆☆☆☆

written by CassidyShields on 15/05/2015

I took my dog to Coventry to have the full intensive training package, I had spoken to the team prior to taking my dog and I was assured the issues I was having with my dog would be dealt with. However, my dog was ill by the end of the first week/beginning of 2nd. I was told his training had been reduced to help him recover (this I know was for my dogs health), however after completion of his antibiotics he did not get better and I went to collect him 2 days earlier than planned. Upon collection he seemed calmer around dogs & people, in addition to no pulling on the lead. Because he was still unwell he was taken to his own vets and given antibiotics from which he recovered fully by the time the antibiotic course was finished. It was during this time that I started to notice my dog was doing what he had been 'trained' not to do... Pull on the lead and barking at other dogs, he continued to do this even though we did what we were told to do by the trainer. I have contacted Royvon via letter explaining my dissatisfaction and I am yet to hear a reply. I am disappointed and feel let down.

Sadly this review is a very true assessment of Royvon Coventry.
Our experience with them was appalling and there disingenuous response to our concerns about the Conditions and abysmal training our dog received was very upsetting.
The Chief Executive and his operations manager would not answer any of the questions we put to them.
We feel as though they did not care.

“What a difference!”

★★★★★

written by Jodieanson on 23/04/2015

Our German Shephard Lara was a nightmare. She barked and lunged at other dogs, her heal word was awful and walking he was near impossible. Basic commands were sketchy too. I had lost confidence in walking her and this was now having a detrimental impact on our life After 3 weeks at Royvon on the dog aggression course, Laura worked her magic. We collected a much calmer dog in general. Basic commands were perfection and on taking her out she only barked at one dog (out of 4) We are now 2 months on and we are nearly there. Although she still reacts on occasion she is 100% better than she was. My confidence with her has dramatically improved and I'm sure in another 2 months she will rarely rest to another dog. Thank you so much to Laura and Royvon Coventry for giving us our life back. Jodie and Gareth (and Lara)

Bobby Scooby and Dylan had a wonderful time! I was so pleased to collect them and see their tails still wagging! We loved seeing photos of their antics while we were away and the amazing photos of them congratulating us on our wedding! It was the first time we had left them somewhere and Im so pleased we chose Royvon for their stay. We will definitely be choosing Royvon for their next holiday adventure! We would like to thank everyone there for their care whilst we were away!

“Fun, Friends and Exercise”

written by RoxyWalkers on 13/04/2015

After meeting the staff of Coventry Royvon you immediately get the impression that they love and understand dogs, that they know what they are talking about and will take the best of care of your dog while you are away. They are also able to cater for a wide variety of needs whether it is accommodation, exercise or training. Our dog, Roxy, really loves her Royvon experiences and gets so excited as we approach in the car. The daily photographs on Facebook reassure you that your dog is having a good time. Following a visit Roxy seems rather subdued for a while - missing the new friends she has made.

written by johnsonjayne on 13/04/2015

Have used this kennels several times and I am happy knowing that my dog is having just as good a holiday as we are. Its great to look at the photos they post on facebook while we are away showing what a good time the dogs are having. They even arranged a party for my dog as it was her birthday whilst we were away. The kids really enjoyed looking at those photos. Rudy even put a little weight on with all the extra treats she was allowed - as it was her birthday. Would definitely recommend using their services.

“Pup was smiling!”

★★★★★

written by AlexiaCombs461 on 10/04/2015

First time leaving my puppy in kennels, had to go away for a few days with work. Looked on-line and saw a lot of different kennels locally but nothing really stood out. Then I saw royvon, their website was well laid out, details on kennels and activity schedules, then I saw that they put photos of the dogs playing on facebook and instagram, that piqued my interest, would be great to see how my dog was getting on whilst I was away, so took the plunge, booking was easy, they even offer to come and collect your dog, which was ideal for me as I had a deadline to make. So after speaking to the staff and leaving puppy for the first time I was on my way. Was looking forward to seeing how puppy got on over the bank holiday. Then the photo's appeared, I was chuffed, my lil' pup, first time in kennels, was running around, playing with other dogs! For easter, the staff had an easter bonnet parade for the dogs, given them doggy-safe easter eggs, really nice touches if you need to leave puppy somewhere over a holiday. Was also glad to see that they have an astroturf to let the doggies play on in all weathers. Would definitely be leaving puppy with the team at royvon coventry again! The short version: Pro's: Really attentive and knowledgeable staff Extra seasonal touches Daily Photo's to see how doggie is doing Convenience of a "pet taxi" to pick up pup Con's: Strangers having fun with my puppy while I'm away Not being able to take such good pictures of pup myself Thinking I wouldn't be able to coax my puppy back with me, think she wanted to be on 'holiday' forever there! My pup went 4* for 4 night's, will be going back again in a few months as she was so well looked after and came back all bathed, scrubbed up and whatever they bathed her with smelled great, just wanted to cuddle pup forever afterwards.

I've got a cross of jack russle and collie we think, he's almost 3 years old, everybody told me he'd calm down as he got older but he's getting worse. Yesterday he went for me and got my face but luckily he did'nt brake the skin. But he has never done anything like that before.   I haven't been able to tell my family, I know they will want me to rehome him. My life revolves around him and I do spoil him but he just won't listen to me, he pulls on the lead which as I'm disabled and use a stick to walk so pulling me could end up with me getting hurt, if anybody passes us wen were out he goes mad or if I stop to speak to anyone he grabs the lead in his mouth and keeps pulling until I start walking again. But if somebody stops to make a fuss of him he doesn't want to move then.  Please can this company help me to calm him down as I would brake my heart if I had to let him go?
