Excellent training in a caring home environment

Our very affectionate, 'home-comfort loving' 14 month old labrador (Baxter) has always had problems with a sensitive stomach and these have led to an obsession with poo eating which has in turn caused more sensitive stomach problems. He has also been a nightmare for pulling on the lead.

We had been looking for residential dog training for a while but were not comfortable with the idea of him living in a kennel outside whilst he was away from us (which other training centres seemed to offer). So finding Adolescent Dogs Residential Training was wonderful. He stayed with  a junior trainer, and it was immediately obvious that he would be very well cared for by her in her home. We received regular email updates from her and were able to see photos on Facebook.

During Baxter's three week stay he received general obedience training, but it was his recall and 'Leave it' commands that we are to use as weapons against the dreaded poo. We were shown how to use these commands effectively and also how to get him walking nicely on the lead. We will need to continue his training as there is no magic fix, but now that we know how we should be doing things, we feel much more confident that we will get there.

The handover lesson was very thorough and we were able to practice the techniques until we were happy that we knew what we were doing. the person I dealt with was very easy to talk to and happy to answer any questions that we had regarding his behaviour.

We have already recommended Adolescent Dogs Residential Training to two of our friends and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anybody needing help with their dog - whatever it's 'issues'.
