Indesit DI450 was pre-installed in my kitchen in a new-build flat. The dishwasher was fine for the first 18 months but then started tripping the electrics whilst on. On the next wash I then noticed an electrical crackling noise and burning smell whilst the dishwasher was on.
I called Indesit who arranged an engineer visit. The seal on the rear of the dishwasher let water trickle out and leak onto the mains electricity supply during a wash causing the electricity to trip. The engineer deemed it so potentially dangerous he left it disconnected ready to be collected the following week. Electricity and water are a dangerous combination, so thankfully Indesit replaced it without any issues.
Indesit advised that I would be covered by an additional 12 months house-builders warranty, on top of the standard 12 months - so it was replaced with a slightly newer model free of charge.
After looking online at the prices of dishwashers there are some higher spec machines from more reliable manufacturers that come with 5 year warranties provided as standard that don't cost too much more. I'm just thankful that the extra warranty covered the replacement, otherwise I'd have to shell out over £250 for a new dishwasher!
