okay so i have just read all 22 reviews all of them being bad and have stated that its a rip off and a rubbish service. i would like to point out the following..
first of all bt 118500 is a premium rate service
do not use it if you dont like the price!
you wouldnt go to tesco buy a loaf of bread have a slice of toast then look at your receipt and go back and complain about the price of the bread
when we onward connect our customers we have a script on the screen which reads "connecting you to (number) at £1.49 per min from a bt landline thankyou for your call"
and we have to read it out slowly and clearly so the customer is made aware of the cost. and we always read out the cost our managers listen to our calls daily and we can get fired for not stating the cost!
i would also like to say that we have a call handling time of 32 secs and most of the time we will find the number under that time if it is a simple request say boots in romford that will take around 20 secconds to find but when say an elderly customer phones up and they are hard of hearing the call is obviously going to take longer i have on many occasions been trying to read out a number to an elderly person and they cant hear me or understand what i am saying especially people from the south why cant you speak properly?? please make the effort to pronounce your r's and t's for example "can i have the number for the stags head in margate" this is acceptable not "can i ave the numba fo the stags ead in mahhgate." if you dont speak properly then im not going to understand you yes we all have accents but we can make the effort to speak properly for 30secs!! ohhh and can i say londoners you are the worst people to speak to on the phone! okay thats harsh but its true especially the snobby posh ones do you realise how ignorant you are
customer " get me specsavers on oxford street "
me " is that oxford street in london?"
customer "obviously" in a sarcastic voice
me " i have 5 listings for specsavers on oxford street"
customer" ughhhh you idiot just get me the big one
another example would be
"I dont know the same of it but its a new shop on the kings road"
"what kind of shop is it?"
"it sells stuff"
"i will need to know what kind of business this is to find the number mam"
ughhhh this service is rubbish *hangs up the phone*
okayyy im not a magician if your going to be vague then its going to take longer to find the number.
i have had the most ridiculous phone calls like get me boots in birmingham.. and hurry up iv not got all day then when you reply i have 10 boots the chemists in birmingham there like its the main one near the train station.... im not local i dont know!! people phone me from a mobile phone to ask what time it is! then will phone when they get there bill in and complain about it.
people need to remember that there is no reason to be rude to someone that is providing you a service. I have been doing this job for almost a year now although it is decent money and an easy job working with good people,I get daily abuse i have been called a northern cu*t, bi*ch, and stupid. i have a degree and i am not stupid i am doing this job because in my area there is nothing else and i would also like to say that there is many people in the same boat as me in this job educated good people with degrees. there are many tests we have to pass before getting an interview spelling is one example.
my advice to anyone using this service know the name of what you are phoning for and for gods sake have a pen and paper at the ready!! i do not have the time to wait for you to go find one, and i am sure you dont have the money to waste either the last thing i need is my manager moaning at me for a 5 min call because someone didn't have a pen!!
