Direct Line Car Insurance customer service was very bad. I took a policy out with them online and then couple of days later i got pulled over by police, they explained that to me the vehicle wasn't insured and I told them I was, after I spoke to them I realised that i've got a confirmation email and showed them. I'm disappointed with Direct Line. They claim to be the cheapest in the UK. In my case they were not! They increased my insurance premiums because they've been unable to resolve my claim before my insurance renewal - they've only had about 8 months, yet the other party has admitted liability and I've even had confirmation from Direct Line in a letter confirming the other party has accepted liability. Made a claim on my Direct Line car insurance and got sent to enterprise car rentals for hire car, they instructed me that if I signed the excess waiver the money would be able to be claimed back from the third party. I would definitely advise people to avoid direct line car insurance. It was a nightmare for me from beginning to end. When I signed up with them first they took payment and then couldn't find my insurance details when i contacted them, it took 30 minutes before the supervisor found them on the system (under a misspelt name I think).
