According to numerous reviewers, in a market dominated by Nikon and Canon, Pentax has come up with an impressive mid-range offering with its K-5 dSLR. Boasting a near perfect 4.5 out of 5 average on Amazon and a 5 out of 5 on CNET, albeit one from one user, this model appears to pack a punch when it comes to high-end features. Starting with the appearance, consumers have, on the whole, found the build robust with the added bonus of being weatherproof (very handy in this sun-starved country of ours!). Delving a little deeper, several reviewers have been delighted with the excellent image quality, the ISO range and image stabilisation capabilities. The K-5 also has a full HD video mode at 1080p resolution, highly rated by users. The model comes with a monaural microphone, which some reviews have pointed out could restrict those doing much filming requiring sound. If you?re on a limited budget, the price of this model could put you off, but if you have some more cash to splash, it seems it would be a worthwhile investment.
