If you?d like to start channelling your inner David Bailey and do a little more than just pointing and shooting, but a full bulk of a dSLR puts you off, then the Olympus Pen E-PL1 could be the solution you?re looking for. It?s a compact camera with interchangeable lenses and features similar to that of a dSLR. Like other models of this kind, the Olympus does away with the optical viewfinder and the mirror mechanism, leaving it much smaller and more lightweight than your typical dSLR. Having received an impressive 4.5 out of 5 on both Amazon and CNET, it seems this compact camera has particularly impressed consumers. Top on the list of its best features are the image quality, portability, ease of use and the HD movie mode. Some users have mentioned the plastic buttons feel cheap, whilst others reported issues with the auto focus in low light and the battery life. However, the general feeling is this model is great value for money and the perfect step up from your basic compact.
