I came to the Weight Loss Resources site after getting on the scales and seeing 10stone 2lbs. I had gained an extra 7lbs over three weeks of dinner parties after managing to stay at 9stone 9lbs over Christmas. I had known for some time that my weight was creeping up - I was very sedentary while my mother lived with me and my husband for 5 years. I always knew that the time would come when I could concentrate on losing the weight so I didn't worry too much. When the time came instead of losing weight I started putting it on! When I saw that I had gone over 10 stone (I am 59 and 5'2")I knew that I had to do something. I did not want to join a club, but I did want the help and guidancethat they provide.
I found the site by googling and scrolling the sites. I had never heard of WLR before.
In the first place I thought it seemed reasonably priced. But that was just the beginning. I especially like the range of support WLR offers - such as the challenges - I did the 'walk around the world' challenge which I loved (should be a regular feature). I liked the forums full of supportive posts. I especially liked the calcualtors - I could pump in a goal weight and time and the site gave me my calory count for the day. I LOVED the way I could earn myself calories by exercising! That really boosted my activity levels! I found the system for putting in popular foods (such as Marks and Spencers Count on Us meals) took a lot of the effort out of calory counting. I think this had put me off dieting before. Being able to work out my regular meals - breakfast etc and putting it in as a 'plan' immensely helpful.
Yes, I religiously counted my calories at the end of the day, but it wasn't guess work and encouraged honesty, and it didn't seem like a grind. The proof was in the pudding, little by little, the weight dropped. There were plateaus and the occasional spike, but I discovered that a couple of lbs gained after a few days of unusual celebrating would quickly fall away when I got back to my regular eating.
My big discovery was that dieting does not equal being hungry, but substituting foods left me feeling full and with no cravings. I discovered that grapes gave me a 'sweetness' treat while using very few calories. And I love grapes, it was like having a treat that was good for me. Win win!
The one thing I would say was that I gave myself permission to take this seriously, almost like a job. And I gave myself a realistic target. I gave myself three months to lose a stone and that's how long it took. In that time I went away for three week long holidays, went away for a weekend to a wedding and celebrated a friend's 60th birthday. While I was away I ate as much as I wanted but I didn't go back for seconds I also tried to go for walks while we were away and did my daily exercises (the XBX fitness plan that came with WLR membership) and it's amazing how much dancing you can do at a wedding.
All in all - I would not have succeeded without Weight Loss Resources. I have been at 9stone 1lb for a couple of months now, with 2 more weddings and a week away in Devon, and I'm still there.
