I never really had a weight problem until I hit my 30's, then the weight started to creep on and before I knew it I had gone from 10st to 13st 7lbs!
I tried a couple of diets and with one actually managed to lose 16lbs. BUT, it all went back on plus a few extra pounds.
Then I saw an advert for the Tesco diet and thought I'd take a look.
I was impressed by the price. I loved the fact that I could make a one off payment for a whole year.
Somewhat sceptically I prepared to start on a diet plan suggested by Tesco and worked out what I would need for the following week and was shocked by the cost of the food that I would need to buy. I'm on a tight budget and there was no way I could afford it. I thought I had just wasted a years subscription fee on a diet I couldn't afford.
I visited the community boards and asked for advice. Everyone was so helpful and very friendly. With help from other members I switched to the Totals Plan, which I have to say is probably the best diet in the world for me.
Not only have I lost weight with this plan, it has also conditioned me to instinctively make healthier choices than I normally would have done.
I still eat all the things I love, like chocolate and cake, but only once a week after I've weighed in.
Before, chocolate was a normal part of my everyday diet. I don't miss it on a day to day basis, I just look forward to having it on a weigh in day. You have to have something to look forward to.
I don't eat takeaways any more, my body doesn't actually like them now. All that grease, urgh.
I've never been a breakfast eater, in fact I never used to eat lunch either. No wonder my body revolted against me, but now I do eat breakfast which gets my metabolism going. I generally eat grapes. It's much easier to pick at them while I'm busy doing other things rather than take the time out to sit down with a bowl of cereal or something.
I'm rarely hungry on this plan, and I love that I can check that I am getting the correct balance of protein, sugar, carbohydrates etc.
I started off 9 months ago weighing in at 13st 11lbs and I'm here now having lost 2st 5.5lbs.
Of course I've had my ups and downs with this diet, but surprisingly very few ups.
I really don't foresee a problem with keeping the weight off once I have reached target, my mind and body have been re-educated. This is where other diets have fallen flat and why I just put the weight back on after.
12.5lbs to go until target, thank you Tesco.
