Read about Go Lower in a national paper when they were comparing various diet plans and their effectiveness. I have tried to diet for years and years, only to gradually put on more and more until my joints were complaining under the weight and I had to have a knee replacement. I have never found slimming clubs suit me; the ludicrous clapping when 'Julie' loses a pound just made me cringe. I had always thought that carbs were my undoing so this low carb plan appealed and unlike other high protein diets, it is balanced in that you do get your share of fruit and veg each day. So I had a consultation on the phone and although it is expensive, I decided to go for it. The food they send is of high quality although, inevitably, the sauces are rather thin. The one thing that struck me is the variety of foods available. Beef and chicken dishes of every kind, meatballs in rich sauce, even prawn curry, all of which are in pouches and are for microwaving. I found that some of the dishes were a bit too spicy for my taste but once informed they ensure that you don't get those dishes again. The other great thing is the provision of snack bars, again in various flavours, all high protein and low carb and very nice with a cuppa in the afternoon. Also the breakfast granola, made with nuts and seeds is delicious with greek yoghurt and berries.
The other brilliant thing about Go Lower is that they plan for you to live independently in the end by gradually replacing the food they send you with menu and recipe ideas. You can then eat whatever you want within their strict guidelines although you can stay a Go Lower member for life and the on-line forum is so helpful. Highly recommended - changed my life.
