I have been on the Go Lower diet for 10 weeks now and have lost a total of 31 lbs. I had 3 stone to lose and was recommended the 4 month plan for which I paid in the region of £850.
The diet is broken into 4 phases, the first month is the detox month and Go Lower supply all 3 meals a day together with a snack and a once-a-week treat. The second month is 'Fast Inch Loss' month and again all 3 meals are supplied with snacks and treats. The third month is transition month and half your lunches, half your dinners all breakfasts snacks and treats are supplied. This month is about making a step towards independence by cooking half your own meals. Although I haven't reached it yet the fourth month is 'Independence' and although your breakfasts and snacks are supplied you are basically eating your own cooked food.
During the first couple of months an adviser contacts you weekly to record progress and help with any problems/questions etc - this is really helpful and they have some really good ideas/suggestions for helping you on your way. In the last half you have telephone contact with a nutritionist who again helps you along the way but with the specific remit of helping you towards independence.
I have to say that I have stuck rigidly to the plan and I think that is why I have been so successful. I worried when I first opened the packets as the portion sizes are quite small - however, once I was in ketosis I realised that I had been completely overeating and my idea of portion control was completely distorted!
Ketosis is what this diet really relies on. It is not pleasant getting into Ketosis (which can take anything upto 5 days) but once in I haven't looked back (just flu-like symptoms etc).
The food supplied is delicious but if there is anything that you don't like and you are given more they are more than happy to swap it for meals that you do like. In fact, the flexibility of the company has been something I have been incredibly happy with. YOu can tailor your future deliveries to the meals you like and coming into transition you can even swap some lunches for breakfasts (for the future) etc if you are starting to eat more of your own food.
Overall I am ecstatic with my weight loss. The programme seemed expensive at first but when you weigh up the weight loss and timescale I think it is great value for money. I have used the Cambridge Diet previously and although this worked, as soon as I started to eat food again, the weight came back on. I am very confident that because I have been eating real food and my metabolism has been maintained this won't happen this time.
All in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Go Lower to anyone!
