Wetherspoons in Newton Abbot is always an ideal place to start a night out for just about everyone I know, swiftly moving on to the Cider Bar. Sometimes it is very busy but always seems to have enough seating for everybody there. It is a bit dark but for the majority of Wetherspoons this is a common trait and something if you're drinking you usually get used to. I like that it's always very sanitary and empty glasses and plates are picked up regularly. The staff have been the same for years, always friendly and helpful.
Over the years the Newton Abbot branch has gradually changed audiences, what at one time serving young people every evening in a lively atmosphere, has now changed into a place that older male generations like to hang out, mostly letching at the obviously underage girls let in to illegally buy drinks.
The 1st review gave me a chuckle as the toilets a little difficult to work out when you're intoxicated as all sides are mirrored , making finding your way out a bit difficult!
We used to make a regular Thursday night of curry night about 5 years ago, but over the years the meal deal became more expensive, while meals became progressively smaller and lost delicious taste. I am still a fan of their other meals though, particular chilli nachos and salads.
I would recommend this as a place for a quick drink and meal, not particularly a whole evening. I'm sure I would spend a lot more time here if it had maintained it's old audiences and standards of amount of food:price.
