We visited on a Thursday evening and found that although there were a few people drinking, not many were eating. The decor is similar to the sister pub in Old Clipstone and the menu is identical.
My friend & I both ordered the steak and ale pie with homemade chips, as it is a favourite of ours at the Dog and Duck. What a disappointment it was!
it arrived less than 5 minutes after ordering. My pie was crusty to one side of the wedge, as if it had been cut for hours. It was barely warm but it was obvious that it had been microwaved as the pastry, which is normally lovely, was soggy and floppy. We didn't get chips at all. Instead we had halves and wedges of cooked potato that had been briefly dipped in the fryer. They were horrid!
We should have complained but didn't - if they can't tell when bringing out such substandard meals that there is a problem, then complaining won't achieve anything. It wasn't even like they were busy. However, neither of us will be back. £9 for cold pie and leftover potatoes is not good value for money.
A case of more style than substance.
