I ordered on line for a birthday gift. I was told it would be ready after 2pm the next day. I left plenty of time and went to the store - no item. I asked to speak with the manager - he would not come out. I was told that they did not have the item it had not arrived but they would phone for it to be sent urgently. I explained it was for the following day! No resolution, no manager, no item.

The next morning I CALLED Johnlewis.com and they said there was a problem with stock and they didnt have it. I was left high and dry! They asked if there was an alternative but couldnt get it to me until the following day!

I spend half and hour in the shop, and hour on the phone and had to cancel the item. Lakeland actually had it for a cheaper price but I didnt trust it coming by post! (thats why I did click and collect from John Lewis).

They took away all of my options due to the following:

They allowed me to shop on line for items that were clearly not available.
They did not call to say the item wasnt available, had they of called I would have used an alternative shop
They were not able to resolve the situation by asking for a temporary loan of the item from the John Lewis store from which they operated.
They took authorisation on my debit card thus freezing my money without producing the goods.

The service was appalling and caused me delays, dissapointment and fustration. I also had an experience at Christmas when I went shopping in store. When I asked the assistanct to get one of the products on display, I was told it was out of stock. Why promote items by putting them on display if you dont have them?

They obvioulsy have stock issues and promote knowing they are unable in one way or another to deliver the good and meet with the clients expectations.

Never again.......!
