I ordered a TV online and selected the second available date offered for delivery. Payment was taken from my credit card immediately. Approximately one hour before delivery should have been made I received a phone call to advise that no delivery would be happening as the TV was out of stock. Telephone calls to 'customer services' (not a good name as they probably can't spell it let alone understand what it means) made things worse as apparently they are not getting any more of the TVs ordered. 'Customer service' advised that as there was a delay between the order and the selected delivery date it looked like the stock that was available when ordering had been used up so none left to deliver!!!!!! Have they thought of doing something radical and allocating the stock on the basis of the orders they have actually taken and been paid for?????
Quite simply they have no discernible system to process orders which they have and when things go wrong the staff are not even slightly interested (in fact the second woman was downright rude).
Unfortunately this is the second problem with John Lewis. Last year an Ipad ordered went AWOL whilst supposedly being delivered. JL 'customer services' continually lied saying deliveries had been attempted but nobody was in even when the couriers own system showed nothing of the sort. When the Ipad finally turned up the (very polite and helpful) courier lady advised that she had been off work for a few days and it seemed that nobody had covered her as she now had an absolute mountain of stuff to get through - which would seem to prove that no delivery attempt had been made.
So two instances a year apart both showing dishonesty and contempt for customers. Never Ever Again for me.
