I was so glad to come across the reviews - I had thought it was just me!
Having walked into the cafe / shop the team do not make you feel welcome.
I was so excited to have a bread shop in Derby, and somewhere nice to eat as a bonus.
So in we went full of anticipation of the lovely food available, and to be honest I was shocked.
I have eaten at the Loaf in Crich and their menu was lovely, not over priced, somewhere to go for a change on a Sunday morning.
The menu at baked wasn't terrible by any means, it just wasn't very inspiring!
My partner ordered beans on toast, after processing the order, the member of staff then said - oh! we're not doing beans on toast any more - I can only assume it was after a certain time in the day...so he ordered a sandwich instead.
The food arrived, and it was a sandwich... a nice sandwich.... but not the best sandwich I have ever had.
Here comes the sticking point....
As we ate a lady sat down at the table next to us, a few minutes later her beans on toast arrived, not happy! I felt like just because I was not head to toe in Boden we had been discriminated against.
I have been back a number of times, but just for the bread to take home, the bread really is good
Would I recommend the cafe - maybe for a quick meeting with a colleague - after all, I'll be in a suit and not be in my jeans and hoodie, so I can guarantee the arrogance of the perceived required clientèle by the staff will ensure me a better customer service experience.
I have to agree with other reviews who comment on the rudeness of the staff, why is it people have forgotten the most simple elements of customer service?
Note to the baked team - don't judge a book by it's cover
