Being in debt is never good, but 123 really helped me. They took away the constant phone calls i was getting from companies which was one of the biggest things that was stressing me out. Ive read a few other reviews and people saying they would of liked more contact from 123 but for me having little contact with them meant that my accounts were all in hand and having the site to look at my progress was just what i needed. Looking at the posts here, yes there are fee free companies. However, this does not guarantee quality of service. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. Sometimes, you have unrealistic expectations of what to expect from a debt management service. With a fee charging company, you will pay setup fees, you will pay a monthly management fee. I have been with 123 for nearly one year. No interest on any of my debts, I have access to the online 123 portal to check my plan. The offices are open 7 days per week, and I can call late in the evening after I finish work to check things when needed. I speak with 123 probably more often than I need to, and he always provides me with the updates I need. I pay £35.50 per month for this - decent value and excellent quality.

I cannot stress enough to anyone thinking of using 123 that it is safer to look else where. I have just discovered that after paying in this plan for over a year and giving this company a total of £1,239.00 only £452.74 has gone to creditors. The rest has been swallowed up in charges and fee's that I did'nt know existed. I really don't understand, are we talking about the same company here?
So you have more money in your pocket, and the creditors have less in theirs and 123 who done this for you, have made themselves a few quid, whilst also getting the creditors off your back........... and this bothers you why?
Isn't this everyone who is suffering with debts wet dream?

Give people money back who have signed a contractual agreement, that they have not managed to maintain (only reason why they would owe money to the debt management company)? How about dont sign up for something that you cannot commit to, or dont understand. Time to look in the mirror, like I had to. My debts are the cause of my own problems, not other people or companies. I guess those terrible loan and credit card companies are awful too for that interest that they charge. Why dont they give you money back also?

the company took money from my account without my go ahead... i gave them bank details with my pack but never gave the go ahead date... when i decided to not proceed they still took money regardless.... the telephone manner was disgusting and they laughed at me over phone ... they have created more stress instead of lifting it.... there are companies like the cccs that will do it all for free... dont give your money to 123 ... they take a massive chunk of your money meaning you debt will... Sorry if you feel this way, however I have to comment on your post. You sent your documents back to us to start your debt management plan on 24/01/2013. You were very happy with the advice that you received, and YOU setup a standing order to commence on 01/03/13. This was the payment that we received, WE DID NOT TAKE THIS FUNDS WITHOUT YOUR "GO-AHEAD"! You did not put the correct reference on the payment, so it took time to locate the funds. Once we confirmed receipt, you verbally informed us that you had changed your mind have given no previous indication. You were outside of the legal cooling off period of 14 days, and we had already prepared the documents to send to your creditors. You have still not complied with our agreement to cancel the plan in writing, which you must do. I was present for the call which you claim to have been laughed at, and heard nothing but a 10 minute rant from you which left our agent visibly upset. I fail to see what we have done wrong, and fail to see how we have caused you stress. You were happy to start the plan, happy to send a payment to us. It is not our fault you attached an incorrect reference to the payment, and we cannot be blamed for "taking" a standing order from your account. We are upfront with our fees, and have nothing to hide as we are amongst the lowest fee-chargers in the industry. These were clearly explained upon assessment, and knowing that there was a free sector you still decided to enter an arrangement with us. You signed to enter an arrangement with us, then decided to change your mind 1.5 months later, yet the debt management company is still to blame. It is very easy to find a scapegoat in this situation - some people need to face up to their own responsibilities and actions!

am just lookin at the bad reviews for 123 on the internet, a lot saying the same as myself and other matters that are are far more serious than my 60 pounds loss ... i know that not one penny of the 60 pounds taken is going to a creditor... obviously i am a liar and have not been cheated or scammed ... no go ahead was given for a payment but thats 123 debt solutions oh so factual word against mine.. back handed tactics and sly ... never mind .. have advised my partner and a friend to come off the dmp and i suppose thats a result and am more than happy with that .
i will not be responding to any more comments on this matter on here.... its always nice to have the last word..

At first I was very sceptical; what can they really do for me other than add to my worries?! I am happy with 123, the only thing that I think where I could have had more support, one of my creditors has applied for ccj which is really bad, I thought 123 could have avoided a thing like this happening.... There has always been an adviser available to talk to immediately, I have never been put on hold or had to wait in a queue. The advisers have always been friendly, helpful, and more importantly clear. The few problems i have had with my creditors have always been dealt with quickly and effectively. I made a first payment of £200 to them and after two months of being with them and taking their advice my debts had doubled and they had done nothing to contact the creditors or negotiate with them. I agree completely! i have paid into my DMP since May 2012, £99 per month. I was told first month was set up fee which was fine and that £25 a month would be retained by them as their monthly fee.
123debtsolutions have on several occasions helped themselves to money from my bank account and will not refund it
Also the first payment to my creditors of £79.01 was only made in December 2012.
I looked on line, did some digging around and found out that my second monthly payment was retained as the final payment into my plan.
i contacted debt solutions, mentioned first and second month payments and enquired as to where the rest of my money had gone. Reply CHARGES for late payments!!!!!!!
So out of £600 they have only paid £79 to my creditors.
They are now saying that the first 3 months payment was set up fee and that is where my money has gone, its in the terms and conditions....not that i can find!!
they now want to charge my £10 for a full statement i have requested and have blocked my account so that i cannot retrieve any of my creditors details, account numbers, balances etc as they know i wish to cancel and move elsewhere for debt help!!!
i have been not told the truth from day one with this company and i'm upset as well as very annoyed at the loss of so much money which they knew i could not afford and when they were supposed to be helping me!!!

I spoke to this company a while back and they tried to hide the fact that they were going to take fees from my payments.
I went to another company and entered in to a debt managment deal with them, they also take fees but were upfront and very clear about all the costs.
I felt very uncomfortable talking with the 123 adviser and felt I couldn't trust him, I kept asking him about fees and he did everything possible to avoid discussing the fees they take from the payments

I have just contacted these people to help me manage my affairs tough decision but I hope I have made the right one if I have to pay these ppl £25 fee to have money in my pocket then that will help me ready some comments some people are not happy but I want to be able to sleep and night and not have to work 7ohrs a week to pay off my debts
