“Very poor customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by adenir on 02/05/2023

Avoid this company. They do not communicate with you or have your best interest at heart. At first, they will give you what seems to be a good option and then change later for something completely different where you will pay more for the same deal. The fee for the service they provide is over £3,000 and change. It is not worth the money.

“All seemed ok until...”

The team set me up for equity release with a lender, who I have subsequently have a reputation for refusing anything other than very standard properties.. apparently they have been known to refuse houses with a bus stop outside. I live half a mile down an unmade road.. heaven for me and discerning buyers. But not this lender who refused the loan, having gone to extreme lengths to meet their requirements. This lender is apparently also have the worst valuation team known to South Wales. I have just found this out talking to another broker who knew instantly what the problems would be in this case. So the fluent life team is clearly clueless about matching lender to the property. Now I have missed any chance of releasing the funds I needed to keep my home. Beyond words. AVOID. I would have like to have known that they had lost access to the whole of the market they claimed when I first approached them. That they don't have the specialist knowledge of the Equity release market they had claimed and they don't even get the conversations with the lenders up front that could have save all of this.

“Poor exoerience”

★★☆☆☆

written by Palmervu295 on 11/06/2022

So within the space of a week the rate they could secure for me changed 3 times, always in an upward trajectory. In monetary terms the increase was £35 per month which is not long in adding up. It felt like they were increasing the speed on a roller coaster which was difficult to get off ——- secure this deal, rates are rocketing, get paperwork back today ..and then oh sorry that deal’s gone …. Rinse and Repeat! I get the market is challenging but I got a more competitive deal myself with a lot less stress attached. Sorry I wouldn’t recommend at all

“Horrendous Time Wasters ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Johannav432 on 04/04/2022

These are just paper pushers, they have no say and consequently you continue back and forth, you hand over the requested paper work on behalf of the real lenders underwriter by fluent then it takes 3 days for them to decide just to find out that it’s still not sufficient enough, which then adds up to a very lengthy process. it’s like they make it up as they go along. There is no parameters you really don’t know and they change the goalposts… This company is a ultimately a joke.

“Absolute waste of time and a hugely stressful experience”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Cheryl.lloyd on 12/10/2021

We applied for a loan with Fluent money and it was a complete disaster that ended up with us not getting a loan and the experience hugely impacted on our time as well as our mental health. After going through all of the obvious questions with the advisor (which took about an hour) we assumed we had answered everything and would wait to hear. We then had to go through the same again with a different advisor, who appeared to have no details that we had previously given. We were then asked to submit various documents but received endless messages saying they were not clear, even after we had double checked them. We then went on holiday but received phonecalls and messages constantly bombarding us throughout our holiday, asking us when we would submit documents that we had already submitted. We were then changed advisors who again seemed not to have a clue about anything we had submitted and were bombarded with further requests for questions that we had already answered and when we got tired of answering and decided to leave it, the messages and calls continued every day. We were eventually so fed up that we sent an email, a text message, contacted them on the app to say that we no longer required the loan and to leave us alone. When an advisor called for feedback, we told him that the company was now impacting on our mental health as we were being hounded and felt we had completely wasted our time. Not only a waste of time but really stressful too! I wouldn't bother even attempting to use this company.

“Friendly, but very unprofessional and all together useless”

Got advice for a second charge mortgage, agreement in principle, ...they should have known from the start it wasn't going to happen as I didn't have a long enough history to get consent from 1st charge. How do you justify 10 % fee if I have to teach you about your market??? They also sent my passport back by regular 1st class, not even signed for or tracked..bit of a leap of faith for royal mail reliability!

“They ignore their customers needs.”

★★★☆☆

written by purplewhite8 on 16/04/2016

Like so many companies Fluent money claim to be the best. However their image profile is outdated. You get these character figures on the graphics & letterheads that's so outdated and robotic. Which brings me on to the phone manner. Also the guy over the phone talks at you like a robot rather than with you. They also text and email you all this nonsense. You give them a brief on what you are looking for. Then they ignore you to suit themselves. The deal they offered me was not to my brief and did not get anywhere near to what I was looking for. Lets really face it. You default on any of the payments on a secured loan. Then they take your property. Buyer beware. There are better deals out there. With companies that really talk to you and listen. In the end I could not deal with a company that you don't feel comfortable with. The re-payments are high. And they try and lock you into a deal that they think is what you need. Go else where.

“Awful”

★☆☆☆☆

written by EllianaBaldwin1962 on 27/10/2015

The service from the company was appalling. The advisor seemed to have no training at all. I have worked in financial services before and they had no idea of data protection. Several times he had to put me on hold to ask questions as he knew nothing about his products and and one point he forgot to put me on hold to speak to a manager and I heard him and his manager mocking my situation with the manager at one point referring to me in a negative manner I am not aloud to post on here. When he finally called back later with a loan product it was saving me very little every month against what I wanted to consolidate and would have meant paying twice what I was borrowing as interest. The advisor tried to lie to me saying it was the only loan available which I have found out to be a complete lie. Since turning down their 'offer' they have been bombarding me with texts despite me saying to them I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. I would advise others to steer clear.

“Stay well away”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KaylaGarner on 18/05/2015

After around 7 weeks of form filling accountants letters and numerous phone calls we had enough. I wanted 25k secured to finish off a farm house renervation that we had already spent 20k on. Me and my wife own a successful nationwide company and pay ourselves 110000 a year between the both of us. This has been the same for the last 4 years. Because we have just brought the house we couldn't take equity out of the property which is around 100000 as we haven't held the morgage for more than 6 months. Both our credit history is excellent. We received one of around 20 forms which had the brokers fees detailed to sign. £2789 was what they got for arranging the loan so at this point we rang and canceled the application. I stated why we had come to this decision and the chap on the other end said we can reduce the broker fees? Try and shop around which is what we should of done in the first place.

“No help”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 11/04/2013

We approached the company to help with cashflow - we are self employed and although earn a good wage the payment can be intermittent - some times waiting three months for a payment of 18,000 then another 3 months and so on. This seemed to block us from all loans, we were upfront and honest from the start about the amount we wanted to borrow and the amount we owed and provided bank statements as proof of earnings. In the end we were turned down because of an amount owing that we declared in the first place. At the very end the manager said she didn't know we owed this particular amount even though we this was made known to them in the first instance, some 3-4 weeks earlier. Complete waste of time, un-coordinated team , although polite at all times. In short, no use for self employed people for cash flow or consolidation purposes.

“Fluent money secured loans”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 19/11/2012

Was provisionaly approved for a loan through them. They sent all the forms and sample docs,Which were filled in and sent by return post and all docs to back up information given to them. I dont have a good credit record at least 1 ccj but i was honest with them. I have about £50,000 equity in my property. Then they started ringing me wanting to tie some of my loans and a late payment owed to my mortgage provider plus the ccj They kept moving the post and made it so that if i took the loan over 7 years instead of the 5 years on the smaller loan with the increase in the loan it would put me in the situation that i would default at some time as the payments would be so high. This company needs its practices looking into. I declined the loan and have asked for the original docs to be sent back,I wont hold my breath.

“Fluent in being terrible.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by crugee on 21/10/2011

Sorry for this revue being rather long, but I must give the details regarding this awful company and highly stressful experience. 3 weeks ago I was looking for a small, personal loan of £2000 to tie me over as I am having a couple of low income months just now. I have a good credit rating these days, though it has been poor in the past. I am also self employed. Rather than make multiple applications that could damage my credit rating, I went through the website "Credit Expert" from Experian. They eventually phoned back and put me through to Fluent money. The chap at Fluent asked the usual plethora of seemingly irrelevant and unecessary questions. He said that they couldn't find me anyone who would lend me £2000, but could lend me £7500 as a secured loan. I already have a secured loan - of about £3500 outstanding,on my house which will be finishing in March next year. I also have about £6500 credit card debt. After spotting this on my credit file he stated that he could get me a loan for £14000! Which would pay off my loan and cards and give me the few thousand I wanted as well. I really didn't want this amount, as my 5 year loan is almost paid off now, but the monthly repayments seemed very attractive, £350 compared to about £1000 I am paying now. It would ease thngs in general, even though the total repayment would have been £21000 over 5 years. He then emailed me a load of forms and sent the same by post. After filling out all these ridiculous forms, getting a friend to sign as a witness (Why they ask for this I have no idea - my friend is unemployed, on sickness benefit and lives with her parents!) and having to get my accountant to fill out and sign another form and added bills and I.D - I sent them back. A week later I got a phone call from a woman at Fluent. She said there were some issues. My accounts weren't dated by the accountant from 2 and 3 years ago, this is because I had a different accountant then. She said she would look into this and get back to me. 3 days later and still nothing, so I phoned them back and left a message. She then got back to me and said the accounts issue was resolved. By this time I had managed to struggle through the previos weeks and after a lot of thought had come to the conclusion that I didn't really need the loan and that unless it was plain sailing from now on, would cancel the application. I voiced my views on this and asked her what the next steps would be if I chose to go ahead. She said that they would now send MORE forms that need signing. Also that the lender would have to phone my accountant and ask more information. She then added that they were still waiting for the predicted evaluations to come back and that they would also need to send a valuer to my house after that. This was all just more hassle and I was at the brink of cancelling. Then she pushed me over the brink by saying that regarding the valuation, they would need to get back a figure of £124.500 on my house to proceed with the loan. The figure quoted by the other bloke originally was £117.000. The whole reason I went ahead with this charade is that an exact replica of my house a few doors away had just sold for £120.000, so I knew the £117.000 was OK. I told her to forget the whole thing, and to please inform the lender not to contact myself or my accountant and that was that. I have made £35.000 - £48.000 every year for the past 5 years. My credit rating is in the good catagory, only 25% of people have a better one. I have not missed a credit payment (of which I have several) in the last 3 years. I am a homeowner and am not in arrears with my mortgage repayments. The loan repayments would amount to less than 1 third of what I have been paying out in the last 5 years. I am a british citizen and have held the same bank account for 25 years. I have £45.000 equity in my house. Could fluent please explain to me why they made all this so difficult and why somebody with the credentials listed above seemingly cannot get a loan in this country? Whether it be for £2000, £7500 or £14000? The lender was set to make over £7000 profit from my repayments, over 50% of the loan! And still they wanted my fathers chest measurments and how many leaves they are on my house plants! This country is in recession. The law abiding, hard working public are trying their hardest to climb out of it, and the banks, credit companies and fat cats are doing nothing to help this. As usual with these things - if I met the ridiculaous criteria of which one obviously needs for them to lend me the money, then I wouldn't need the loan in the first place! Unless you want to go through all the vile rubbish I had to I suggest very strongly that you give Fluent money an exceptionally wide berth!
