I recently purchased a travelex (Euros) cash passport from a 'booth' in my local Asda supermarket, no fees, and am generally very happy with it.
I loaded it with £300, paid in cash sterling in the store, at an exchange rate better than the Post Office on that day.
I used a driver's licence as my ID.
When I went home, I logged on to the travelex web site and tried to load a further £200 from my online bank current account. Travelex online security would not accept 'driver's licence' as the ID I had used, so I called the freephone help line who sorted the problem, promptly and politely. (one of your other reviewers had the same problem. Sort it please Travelex)
I duly loaded the extra £200 from my Barclay's account, BUT, when asked "did I wish to enter a reference" I left the box empty.
NOTE TO ALL, you must enter the travelex cash passport card number in this box, I did not, and the money was duly returned to my bank account.
Using the card at ATM's in Spain was painless, and I believe free, but I was unable to see my balance at the ATM, so, luckily, I went online and discovered that I had £200 less than I thought. Not knowing why, I called the freephone helpline from my mobile, (I haven't had the bill yet), and the helpful lady, sorted the problem by finding out why my money did not get credited, (lack of reference) and using my bank debit card, loaded up the travelex card on the spot, (I believe there will be a charge for this). She then talked me through loading the card card online and confirmed that I had done it correctly.
Overall, a good product for getting cash, in the local currency, from an ATM, and the spare card is a blessing. Security is good and it appears to be the least expensive of any of the cards available.
