“Automatic subscription renewal distress”

Written on: 15/12/2011

They took over £70 from my account under the automatic renewal without notice!! After I begged them over the phone and later wrote asking them to refund it as I don't need my account as I am in a committed relation, they are refusing to refund my money!

I am going to the Office of Fair Trading to make a formal complaint as from what I can gather from my legal research they are supposed to send you a reminder and give you a reasonable opportunity to cancel.

There have been so many people affected by this and they shoud be stopped!

They are shocking!

They did the same to me!

As this went through Paypal I will try to retrieve my funds through them, but they blatantly say they have no refund policy. This is a rip-off company. Stay away!

I too have been duped by Match and am now seeking legal advice. I cancelled my membership in Oct 11 but they continued to send me e mails so I logged on to the site in Dec to find out if my profile was still in use. Match then deducted £77.94 for 6 months membership using my credit card details they had retained without authorisation. They were subject to a BBC watchdog investigation in May 2011 and appear to have ignored the findings. I would advise anyone to stay well clear of the site.
