Without a doubt Robot Arms is one of the most original, if not unique albums to come around in a while. Galilee’s release is truly electronic music and all original especially when you consider most electronic artists are basically deejays twisting knobs and buttons to already recorded music. Robot Arms is completely original.
The album as a whole sounds a little mechanical in nature, which ironically works because it is a true electronic album. It mixes techno sounds with screeches, thumps and bumps and somehow finds a rhythmic path.
The only exception to the electronic hailstorm is the song “Wishing” which is a melodic piano driven piece. It’s as if it was strategically placed to give the listener a breather to calm the senses until the next foray into electronicia starts.
What Robot Arms may lack in melody it makes up for in originality and actually living up to its billing – that of electronic music. And while most Robots don’t have a heart, Galilee’s effort does display a faint heartbeat, while it may not be as pulsating as other so-called “electronic” artists.
