I've had my second hand 1995 3 cylinder hijet for 6 years, affectionately called grandads noddy van as the grandkids love it, although rear seats are nearly always folded up as I use cargo area for carrying work gear, never had over heating problem (dam should not have said that )am really sad they are being discontinued. I took out the seats and put in sink & two ring hob, built some wooden boxes and covered with foam....... and hey presto a lovely mini camper. Great for fishing weekends and all round carrying large loads. Sadly Diahatsu & Suzuki are discontinuing.
These great vans with only Piaggio left. Mine is 998cc. I have had the 1300 but did not like it. Cost of road tax ins. and petrol not worth it. As for overheating make sure to vent radiator often. I fitted a fan bypass switch to monitor heat in ...

We have had the 'BUS' as we call it for 3 years - my daughter uses it to ferry her children to school and I use it to carry my Vespa scooter to rallies - it is also used as a camper and is much better than a tent. This is the very first car I ever bought. If you are a learner driver and/or need 6-7 seats then this is a perfect ideal car. It is only 993cc engine (the newer ones are 1.3l) so great for road tax. The insurance on them are also lower. They are extremely economical on petrol. To fill the tank from empty costs about £20. When I went on my holiday I drove about 1000 miles and I only needed to put about £100 in. It is easy to drive and parking is very easy as it has no bonnet ...
