“Best company I've dealt with”

Written on: 25/11/2016 by Kadin201 (1 review written)

Being self employed it was difficult to get credit, I had a few credit rebuilder cards before this one who had very poor customer service, emails went unanswered, poor phone service and often times endless phone calls day in and day out if you happened to miss a payment date. I've found capital one a pleasure to deal with, I paid every month but due to cash flow issues I alerted them I would be behind on my payment, they can see from my account that I make regular payments on time, I got… Read Full Review

“Brilliant!! Just the job!! ”

Written on: 04/05/2016 by tgColeman259 (1 review written)

From my own personal experience I have to say my luma credit card has helped dramatically!! I applied with an extremely bad credit rating through being young and very stupid with money. Now 24 with a baby, house to buy and a partner I'm marrying I needed something to help build bridges with my credit file and me. Luma has done just that. As I was saying my credit history was shockingly poor no one would let me have £10 never mind the £200 starting balance I had. As it was so small it's been… Read Full Review

“VERY MISLEADING”

Written on: 27/02/2016 by dcBlackwell290 (1 review written)

I applied for a Luma Card one week ago, after being accepted online, was told that I could have £500 credit and that my pin would arrive in 3 to 5 days, I went and entered my bank details to set up the DD and sat back and waited. 7 days later had still not received anything so thought that maybe I had filled the form out wrong and decided to do it all again, this time I was not accepted due to the fact my credit score was too low. How come? My credit score is the same, I thought this company… Read Full Review

“Totally terrible.....got rejected for a card”

Written on: 02/10/2015 by steviejclutterbuck (1 review written)

Well basically I filled in the application for a luma credit card and I thought oh good a card for people with poor credit and for people to build their credit rating.....so filled in the application and it said you have been turned down for a luma card and I couldn't believe it !! My credit rating was at the time ( well credit score was 870 out of 999 ) which was not to far away from a good rating and haven't got any ccj's at all just a couple of defaults.....and I couldn't believe I got… Read Full Review

You can have a perfect credit score but be rejected for credit based on appropriateness of the product you are applying for, if you have a reasonable credit rating but are going for a high interest credit card meant for people with bad credit you are more likely to be declined.

If I served you in my shop Id laugh at you with that card. I love customers who think they're it and then use a card like luma, aqua, vanquis. Pay your debts and you can have the cards that I have. MBNA barclaycard etc

Why even write a judgemental comment like that? You don't know peoples circumstances and why they have bad credit, fair enough when you get people who can't be bothered to pay their bills and end up having to get cards like this, but being self employed like myself and my father, going through serious illness and having people owe you thousands of pounds for work carried out, therefore ending up in forcing you to take the last resort of going bankrupt results in the only way of building up credit once again through cards like this. Despite your nobhead comment I hope you never have to experience hardships like that and be "laughed" at by people like yourself.

If I was you, I would look for another job? As you are not obviously that well paid, if you need to use credit cards. Someone doing well out of life and control of their money doesn't need a credit card at all? If you have so many credit cards, then your the fool?

A lot of you need to read some facts about credit cards, credit scoring, and what different providers look for in applicants.
Each provider looks for different things in different applicants.
Cards like this are also for people who don't have any credit so they can create it. I know people who have been victims of identity theft who have to use these cards. Some people I know have cards like Luma, Aqua etc, but have MBNA, Barclaycard. Providers like Barclaycard and MBNA have credit builder cards, and companies like Capital One have platinum cards and cards for high earners and people with impeccable credit scores. Even with a great credit score, you can still be declined for credit.
It's good to have a credit card for various purposes including showing that you can handle credit, which subsequently can keep your credit rating at a good level and if you do need to apply for a loan, credit card, even home energy and mobile phones, it shows you have/had credit and can control and manage it.
If your credit is so good, why are you looking at reviews for this card anyway?

“Just the job...”

Written on: 26/12/2014 by BertieBeatlefan (1 review written)

I only heard of the Luma card through a money email I recieved - we are (now)a good credit rating and the attraction for me was that IF each month it was paid off in full then one gets 4% back on Supermarket and fuel spend. Yup; that's right. Spend £100 at the supermarket and you will get back £4. There is a limit on the yearly amount one can get back (I think it is £108) but we are coming to the end of our first full year with this card and they owe us just over £90. This is payable in… Read Full Review

This is just another credit company trying to rip people off, i also believe they are using peoples details to sell on to-god knows who! But as a test i entered 2 of my friends details (with their permission) and in each case they DID NOT give an answer within 60secs,as they claim. Rather-they asked for postage of documents!! STEER CLEAR wud b my advice. I also think that the positive reviews are false and written by employees… Read Full Review

Sometimes they need more details from people before they can proceed with the application or to approve an application. That happened why I applied for an Argos card and a Tesco Credit.
I've been with Luma for about 4/5 months so far and they've been ok. Each provider has their own criteria, they don't just go on credit score.

“Great for rebuilding credit”

Written on: 01/11/2014 by Ashantiy367 (1 review written)

I was successful in obtaining a Luma card in April 2014. I have a poor credit history and was given an initial limit of £300. After 6 months of borrowing an amount and paying off in full every month they have increased my limit to £700. My credit score has improved and I was also able to take out a different card that I intend to use for emergencies. The iphone app is great for managing your account and ensuring you stay within your limit. This has been really helpful for me to improve… Read Full Review

“Last Resort Credit Card”

Written on: 05/09/2014 by SarcasmSuitsYou (1 review written)

So I've had this card for a while as my first credit card. Started off ok. However they didn't set up the direct debit I asked for and CALLING CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS MEGA EXPENSIVE. When my card got lost it took them a month to send me another. The statements aren't very clear. I recently paid £570 off £650 but they have worked it out to me oweing them £800. I'm no mathematician but that ain't right. I'm patient but two days for them to get back to me is a bit much. Overall... It's… Read Full Review

“Great card for the not so perfect Credit History”

Written on: 07/07/2014 by Aimeej426 (1 review written)

My online application was referred as they need to make additional checks, which was fine. I received my approval letter and pre-contract 11 days later which also explained everything to me in great detail. The card followed 6 days later. This is my first type of credit since things went bad for me years ago, I have finally paid my debt off through a management plan and was looking for a credit card to rebuild my credit rating. The Luma card is ideal, a small £200 limit is absolutely fine… Read Full Review

Sometimes there don't give a automatic yes/no which is good as it will go to an underwriter. So I am guessing you're in a que to be dealt with. The average wait is 7/10 days. I applied for the capital one aspire, I was approved instantly for £7500. So perhaps something on your credit files flagged up a referral.
