Checking my statement I saw that over £4500 had been paid into my John Lewis Partnership Card account in error by someone. I called them. First they asked for the sixth character of my five character password and then they said someone would call back. No one called.

So two weeks later I sent a secure message via the website. No response.

So I called about 10 days later and after much messing about I was told that the money had now been debited from my account and that I was to receive £20 worth of points compensation. They said I had been notified - but all they'd done was respond on the site so, not being psychic, I was unaware of this.

I had wasted hours communicating with them and as a reward for notifying the idiots of a giant £4500 mess up they awarded me £20! I tried to speak to people at John Lewis but they couldn't give a damn and kept referring me to HSBC. So it all rather shatters that great image of John Lewis Customer Service.
