“Beware will destroy your credit ”

The worst company ever! I had my credit card with them for over 10 years... My credit limit was 10,000. I was never late on any payments for over 147 months and they cancelled my credit card with no notice or reason why! The results of them canceling my card has lower my credit score over 120 points. Don't give them the chance to destroy your credit too!!

Surprised that this latest review is dated as long ago as 30/11/2020!
At 31/05/2021. As a client for over 50yrs, Barclaycard has become simply NOT fit for Domestic purpose.
Recent example. Attempting to complete a regular Supermarket transaction. Culminated with. Unable to complete transaction without an additional code Contact BC!
Next 2hrs. Online and landline telephone, attempting to resolve. Insertion of 6 Layers of PIN and other personal security details, waded through 3 times. Each explaining the situation.
Nothing related, appearing on the convoluted WEB page. Ultimately a telephone call from someone bereft of the English language and unlikely able to count to 10!
Kept on telephone line 35mins ["I am checking your account"] Including my Barclays 'Bank' account, held for the best part of 60yrs with regular transactions.
Telephone battery going flat. No resolution.
Experience and not the first. Clearly application of "Deliberate Client Fatigue". Appalling and least expected from such a long established Banking Institution.

“Silly people alive & running barclaycard ”

For months barclaycard asked me to pay an amount higher than my minimum. I complied. I had a letter telling me how well I'd done, and no longer needed to pay a higher rate. I have never missed a payment or late. Then I had my limit reduced without any communication. No problem with reduced limit as I'm try to reduce dept. But would nice to be informed. Now they are telling me I'm too near my limit, which they've just reduced.. crazy company... Thinking of closing my current account with Barclays.. as all trust has gone with this moronic Bank

“Customer NO SERVICE. Horrible USUARY RATES. ”

I have 2 accounts and 1 that i use for miles has a high balance. ALWAYS PAID ON TIME for almost 5 years. The other with a very low balance and also always on time. As Im traveling I exceeded the line by $29.00...even thought I made a payment way in excess BUT IT WAS NOT POSTED YET. They decline my card. I will be looking to end this relationship. Good by Barclays!...Go back to UK

When you call customer service, you are speaking with people in the Philippine's, go figure. When you ask to be transferred back to the United States you wind up being on hold forever, I seriously believe that they do it on purpose. Today I was on hold for 3 hours. When I finally got to speak with a EXTREMELY RUDE FEMALE DOG, she was unapologetic for me being on hold for 3 hours and then got loud and rude with me, and to top it all off, she couldn't give me a straight answer. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CARD/COMPANY TO MY WORST ENEMY. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED......

“don't trust these people”

Signed up for this card 5 years ago. Told it gave me a free checked bag on Jet Blue. Turns out the one I has does not. So, first time I tried to use this benefit in 5 years (I never check bags but TSA made me for a small item in the bag) I had to pay $25. Barclay's would not give me a credit. So, for a lousy $25 I am cancelling the card and will never get another Barclay's card. I hope others do the same.

There is a charge on my account that isn't supported to be there. I have been calling for two weeks but no body is trying to help me. All representative picking up the calls from overseas and doesn't understand me and my situation. So frustrating.

i was a loyal card holder for over 8 years never missing a payment and i was recently contacted by a letter telling me that they have decided to close my account because i have cards with balances on them so for this they close the card what kind of loyalty is this to me never will i hold this card again and will tell other family members that have this card to cancel before they do this to them!!!!!!!!!!

Barclaycard mastercard closed my account for no reason made 4 payments on time I have had the card for 4 months was told if I spent 500 dollars for first 90 days I would get one hundred dollars plus 1.5 percent back they never gave my 100 dollars sine on bonus or my 1.5 percent back from purchaces that's why I got the card for all the perks they owe me 118 dollars they can close your account for no reason now I owe them 1080 dollars and they stole my 118 dollars in bonus points I will pay them the minume payment I owe this money because I wanted the bonus dollars they will take from you not good company I shold rip them off they riped me off if you wanted cheated out of cash back rewards get there card called cash forewarded cant wait to pay these theifes off never a gain worst card out there tied with merit bank another sham and also citi bank sears master card another sham company like I said run for the hills from these three credit cards Barclay card with no benafits I think the xtra they take goes to there ceo and mangers thank you get a sureced credit card

“Like many other people, closed for no reason”

I have been with Barclay for many years. I got a letter the other day saying they closed my account due to a payment that the bank rejected. The payment was immediately re-submitted and accepted. After several years of being with them, no questions asked, no nothing, they close the acct. I had made every payment on time as it is set up on auto pay. After this happened, I searched "Barclaycard closed for no reason" and was amazed at how many people this has happened to. Get a Barclaycard, be in good standings, and they will mess up your credit. Stay away from this one.

“Avoid this card”

This has to be the worst card out there. They charge the highest interest rate and offer no protection for the consumer. Their fraud department is a total waist of time and a joke as you'll have to figure it out for them a it still will not be corrected. Their main concern is protecting the seller so they'll keep accepting the card, with no concern for the holder. Don't waist your time on a supervisor as they also don't listen. Point of example: I paid my balance off to close the card a month ago and they still haven't sent me a credit I've been due even though I've called on 4 different occasions and been assured it's the mail. Barclaycard is trying to milk it for more interest. Think hard before choosing this one

Barclaycard security is actually very good compared to other companies. Their main concern is not "protecting the seller". When you report fraud the credit card company takes the loss for this, so obviously it is in their best interest to catch fraud immediately and close the card down. If you have a zero balance then you aren't paying interest. What are you even talking about...

“Wrong closed statments !!!!”

Hi this place (E14 5HP) maybe is master head of control & management IT center for computerised programs for calculations transactions barclayscard statements! Recently barclayscard offers a new scheme names purchase plan . Which means for purchases over 400£ you will entitled to pay back to credit account by 24 instalments or less at zero percent interest. But there is a handling fee which would be add to your purchase to pay back by instalments . But I saw very accurately these fees also deduced from account straight away!! Which means. Double deductions for fees !! And also the fees comes to your statements closed plus of your main amount of purchase to pay by another card or direct debit to your Barclays credit card , which means triple payment for fees and double payments for amount of main purchase!! I called them for this big mistake and they correct my statement by deduction of main purchase and purchase plan ( handled fees) fees . But already what is left is to refund to credit card these fees which they have promised me to refund these fees!!! So I'm alerting you to take a accurate to your account and see these big mistakes in thier calculations . Really it's very very ridiculous !!!

“i applied for a card terrible customer service!”

I applied for a card and got instantly approved and then they sent me a card and with a authorized user that i didn't' , so when the card came i activated it and then i called and made sure i didn't receive that 2nd card, to find out that was the 2nd card i already activated and then they canceled it, and i found the first card i was suppose to get in the mail. i activated that then i called and they said everything was fine and all set up. i went d use it two days later , it denied . and so i called they told me i had a security breach on my account and were gonna send me a new card. i called tonight and they said it was a fraud account and it was closed and wouldn't tell me why. i am calling my bank tomorrow and seeing if they can help me make sure this horrible horrible card doesn't ruin my credit.! i was told i had to reapply , so i wanted to try and was denied a card. they are horrible horrible horrible. i was so looking forward to using this credit line to help me build my credit. the customer service was horrible . i will stick with capital one and credit one , never never get this card. when and if i get a card its getting cut up . i am gonna keep calling barclay card services and calling the credit bureau to demand this account is closed and not being id theft .

“Refuse to Waive Late Fee”

I have been a Barclay card holder for over three years and have never made a late payment until last month. I did not get a statement in the mail and so did not realize my payment was due until 2 days after the due date when I received an email saying I did not pay my bill. I made the payment within an hour of receiving the email but charged a $26 late fee on my next statement. I caled to ask for it to be waived since I have never received a statement but the custmomer service rep refused to waive it and refused to allow me to speak with a supervisor or anyone with authority to waive it. I then emailed a complaint and was advised they would not waive it. I will be cancelling the card since I have been a very good customor and never made a late payment but nonetheless received no courtesy from Barclay.

“Don't get this credit card unless you like rejected...”

Barclay's Bank has very poor procedures to decide what is "fraud". If you get their card, expect to have lots of charges declined. Travelling somewhere? Charged rejected, even if you called them and told them where you were travelling. (And they ignored the cell phone that I gave them when I told them I was travelling. Instead they left a message on my home phone: "This Barclay's Bank calling about your credit card with last digits ___. Listen to this message." -- But there was no message. Are you getting a new air conditioning unit and want to charge it to your card? Charge rejected! Large charges are suspicious! They then told me if you want to put a large charge on your card, you have to call them first, prove your identify, and notify them that you are going to make the charge, how much, and to who . . . I could give other examples. Their customer service is also poor. It's hard to get beyond the automated system to a real person (and verify your identity), and then they have to transfer you to the right person (and verify your identity). Then the call will get disconnected, so you have to call back and get your identity verified two more times. If you're lucky, that will temporarily solve the problem. If you do online statements, they don't always post the most recent one, so you have to call and ask them to send you one in the mail. Only get this card if you really enjoy pain.

“Don't waste your time!”

I got the Ring card accidentally, I was looking for the Rewards card. So I spoke with the online "customer service" and they told me I needed to find the promotion and send it to them. They didn't even tell me I had applied for the wrong card, I had to find it myself online. Then I called there customer service representatives in some western state and they were very nice, thus the three stars... Even though they were helpful they couldn't get my Ring card switched out for the Rewards card. They said I would have to cancel the Ring card, apply for the Rewards card, and they would need to pull my credit again even though I just received the Ring card two weeks before. I just cancelled the card and I'm looking elsewhere. You'd think they would want to help their brand new customers... Guess not.

“Horrible business”

When I signed up for this barclaycard credit card, I asked for clarifications on the terms and conditions and what was informed to me was inaccurate. I was told this was a FREE interest promotion for 18 months NOT interest that would accumulate for the past 18 months if not paid in full. I only had $710 left on the card vs the $2000 that was initially charged. They charged me $630 fee all at once in ONE MONTH. My bill went from $710 to $1340. When I called for clarification on how this was even possible and legal to charge almost DOUBLE on interest alone, they were very cold, unwilling to help or negotiate a discount or waiving the fee for a valued customer. They are not a valued company who cares for their customers. It is because of companies like this why so many go in debt and can't keep up with their monthly payment due to the outrageous interest rates and false information given to get you to sign up for a card. I would NEVER EVER do business with this company again and will do everything I can to guide someone to NOT open up an account with them!!

Today is the FOURTH or FIFTH time (hard to keep by now) I've had fraudulent online charges with Barclay card in JUST the last few months. Each time I have to call and wait on hold. They then cancel the card and I have to wait for a new one. TWICE in ONE week. Absolutely DONE with this card. I've NEVER had this constant problem with any other card. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!!

This has nothing to do with the card itself. It is most likely somewhere you are using the card. The company has no control over someone stealing your card information, be more careful where you are using the card.

“Horrible Customer Service”

So far we have called into the credit card 4 times. For one they have a bad address on file, bad email, and then they will not talk to me because it is supposedly only in my husbands name. He called to add me and after over a half an hour talking to someone they still didn't add me to the account. They show that he called in, but nothing about adding me to the account...which is really scary because he gave them my social security number.

“Fantastic card, helpful customer service team”

The customer service team are really great. After suffering a bereavement, while in the process of moving, I lost my job and as such I was in a bit of a mess. I rang Barclycard and explained my situation, not being able to pay. They were so so so helpful and halted my interest for 4 months as well as wavering the months pay. All other times I have rung to enquire about a bill or a payment I do not recognise they are quick to help and I am usually left satisfied. The only awkward thing is that it is very rarely dealt with in a Barclays bank as it is technically a separate company and so you WILL have to ring.
