“Excellent credit building card”

When I came here to the UK nobody wanted to approve my credit card application. I've been with Lloyd's Bank for 4 years now. Even them rejected my credit card application. I've tried Barclays. They rejected me as well, then I saw an ad for aquacard and although I read some very bad reviews about the company I thought to myself 'what the heck' I don't mind so I applied for a credit builder card and I got accepted. My initial credit limit was £250, then after 3 months they saw how I managed my finances and they increased my credit limit to £750. Now I received an offer from my own bank and they offered me £2200 credit limit. So aqua really did help to build up a strong, solid credit history here in the UK. Thank you very much. The only negative experience I had with the company was that the payment via their website somehow never went through with my debit card so I had to pay my credit card via my bank's own online portal but hey that's the way how they could manage to monitor the way I manage my finances and probably that's the reason why they offered me after 6 months of aquacard usage their own credit card with £2200 credit limit.

That's the problem you face when you come to the UK - you start off with a bad credit and you have to prove you're creditworthy - I had same problem when I came to the UK in 2010. In Germany for example, everyone has a clean and positive credit record when they become old enough to have a bank account - and then it's up them to ruin that themselves or to keep it clean. So I don't really understand why the UK handles that differently, because it's just made unnecessarily difficult for people if they start with a rubbish credit (no matter whether UK citizens or immigrants). I've actually refused to accept credit cards since I arrived here, because I have money in the bank and didn't see the need for one. I've "ONLY" applied for one in 2014 to improve my rating which stayed under the UK average for years, which I didn't know (despite monthly income). I learned about it after I've been denied credit to buy a car (£6500) on instalments, even though I offered to pay 70% in cash and asked to finance the remaining 30% (~ £2000 @ £500 payment per month) ... That was the turning point where I started to look a little deeper into the UK credit rating system and discovered how ridiculously it works... I've 2 credit cards now and I see slight improvement in my ratings. I've also changed bank since my old bank didn't report the balance (always showed £0)... However, I'd use those CC's only occasionally to build up the credit or just for backup in emergencies. Otherwise stick to the money you've got in your bank to keep out of trouble ;-)
