My friend was booking a hen weekend for one of our other friends & 12 of us were going. She found Holme cottage in Boscome Bournemouth on cottages4you.co.uk She rang up first to check it was fully accessible for an electric wheelchair user (myself). They told her yes it was flat downstairs, they had other wheelchair users stay there before & even the doors had been widened. So subsequently my friend booked the cottage. The following day I rang cottages 4 you to check if there were any steps & if I needed to bring my portable ramps. The man on the phone was so rude & said he can't give that information out unless I'm booking it. I said my friend has already booked it & I'm just checking the level of access. He reluctantly said he'd ring the cottage owner. A few minutes later he comes back on the phone & said there's no answer & there's nothing more he can do. I said well I need to know because if it's not accessible the booking will be cancelled. He said he doesn't have that kind of information & they can't help me. At this point I was so infuriated I hung up.

I then googled the cottage & another company came up - bookcottages.com I rang & asked them if the cottage had wheelchair access. Straight away tthe lady said no way is it accessible! The only bathroom downstairs wasn't even a proper bathroom, there were steps to get in & there were no disabled facilities. I immediately told my friend who rang back cottages4you. They then admitted to her that cottage was not accessible. Needless to say we cancelled our booking.

It is wrong that cottages4you initial told us it was accessible to secure a booking. They lied. If I had not rang up to check we would have turned up in May with a shock. I'm a human being, it's disgusting the way they casually lied. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with it!!!

Very bad service, sounds like they were only interested in booking the holiday, so pleased you double checked and hope you were able to find a suitable holida.

We have just returned from a cottages4you holiday which i booked for 2 adults and a baby under 2 and a dog, a week before we were going the owner rang me to ask me not to arrive before 5pm as her daughter was unable to help her clean it and the lady who was going to help her had another job so they would not be able to start cleaning it to after 3pm, i said that was ok and she was aware we were bringing a 14 month baby , yes she said, when we arrived at the cottage about 5.30 she was showing us round i asked were the travelcot/cot was ans she said we dont have one, i slept downstairs on a mattress with my grandaughter but she would not settle so we had very little rest the first night, if the lady had told me this i would have bought a travel cot, and with her asking us not to arrive to after 5 there was no way of finding a shop to buy one that night, we bought one the next day and we all slept well, on return i rang customer care and said there was no information wrote in the important information that there was no cot ony care was needed on the steep stairs and outside pond, their reply was it was not on the inventory which we did not have a copy of to you arrive and everything is listed, and if they offer travel cots you have the option to book and pay for one, i said thats ok if your booking a property that has one but dont you think its important to tell customers in advance in the important information that you have to bring your own cot for the baby, they just said they would note my comment . again missleading information and not enough important information made clear.
