Cottages 4 You Ref.9214 Altdarroch Farm

We booked the cottage mid August 2013 at a cost of £834 plus £25 fuel supplement to be left in cash. The kitchen was worn, dirty and smelly, the lounge had dirty carpet and a smelly suite. The breakfast room smelled of the blocked drain outside the front door and was kitted out with several chairs that must have come from a 1960's hotel. The downstairs bathroom was tiny and very grubby and worn.
The stair post was topped with a very large finial which was not fixed and could have caused serious injury, especially to a child.
The bedrooms were vintage with worn bedding and paper thin pillows (we had to buy our own). The carpets in one room had been pieced together and looked as if they had been fitted with a blunt knife. the upstairs bathroom was of the same standard as the downstairs.
Two of the bedrooms were fitted with wall mounted heaters the controls of which had melted.The owner had since been advised by Fire Officers to replace.
The whole aura of the property was run down and dirty and in my opinion far below the standard of others in that price range.
