“Failed to show up twice”

I called PC Call out a couple of days ago. The engineer didn't turn up and when I called to find out why I was told that he had gone off duty. This was at 11.30 am. They apologised, offered me a 10% discount and gave me a slot for 9.00 am the next day. “Overpriced and next to useless”

Called out due to faulty hard drive. Engineer reinstalled windows 10 on it and charged £104 which is disgusting. Soon after he had gone I discovered the windows 10 auto update wasn't working. He came back next day and said he would have install windows 7 and then I could upgrade to 10 for free. He was obviously pulling suggestions out of the air and I told him to leave. “PC Callout - A Totally dishonest company- do not use!”

I made a call to this company in March this year because I was having trouble with the signal dropping on my router. I asked the woman who took the call if this was the sort of problem they deal with. She told me that they deal with all types of computer problems and assured me there was no call out charge and a no-fix no fee. I would suggest that you keep a keen eye on your post in the next week or so for a demand for non-payment from a debt collecting agency PC Callout uses. I don't understand why PC Callout has not been closed down. Report them to Trading Standards. This so call called computer repair company is to be avoided at ALL costs. Good luck.

Thanks for the warning, however, I have already had a letter from a debt collecting agency, I explained that nothing had been resolved so I was not going to pay. When the technition from PC callout arrived he gave me a form to sign before our conversation regarding the possible reasons for the signal drop. Before he left he asked me for the form which I had not signed. He informed me that even though he had not carried out any repairs I had to sign it. I refused and told he to get his boss to contact me. I did feel sorry for him as he said he would be in trouble for not getting me to sign the form straight away. I have not heard from then since but I am still getting numerous emails containing a virus which I continue to delete. Yes, this corrupt company should be shut down.

“Terrible, Problem not resolved and Overcharged at £208”

The terms state "NO FIX NO PAY" well mine is not fixed and still had to pay. Obviously I am not the only person this has happened too from the reviews. Blues screen issue not addressed, even though told about it - Plymouth Engineer by the way, my understanding is that one should look into the dump files generated at the time this happens, the machine was not even opened up, even though it was crashing, and machines noises. A problem with my ageing Dell desktop lead me to contact PC Callout for assistance at 09.15 this morning. A delightful and very helpful young lady told me that an engineer would be with me by 11.30. I think you were lucky in being sent a competent engineer. Their application process consists of a questionnaire of just five questions requiring a yes or no answer. If you answer yes to all five, you are almost guaranteed the job. In addition, there is only one form of photo ID required. There is no CR check. When you call an engineer out from this company you have an equal chance of getting either a fully qualified engineer with years of experience or somebody who wants cash and would take any job they could find, has no experience in fixing computers, but can use a search engine. Getting work as a self-employed repair engineer for this company does not appear to be difficult or require any form of qualification or proven experience. Their payments page is also of interest. More so their statement that it is a secure page, despite it having no form of information encryption for the information you are handing over to them which means it is just left on a server. Hardly a mark of a “professional service” computer repair company. Their website was built using text art and a series of text boxes randomly placed. It really speaks volumes as to how competent they are in their IT skills.

“MISLEADING ”

This Company boldly advertises ' NO FIX NO PAY ' - BEWARE !!!!!! They say that this simply means if their 'Engineer ' does not know how to repair your computer, there will be nothing to pay at all. However, if he comes up with a diagnosis you are still expected to pay. However, the word FIX would imply a CORRECT diagnosis. This may not prove to be the case. This is not entirely true. I work for them and there have been occasions where I know what the problem is and how to fix it but I could not charge the customer because we were unable to obtain the part needed to fix it. The problem arises when I know how to fix it, and the customer says they don't want to continue to fix it. In that situation I don't see why it's fair for me as an engineer to make a correct diagnosis, offer to fix it and spend the time looking into it to simply be told by the customer they don't want to fix it so therefore they won't be paying it. I personally have a 96% repair rate and the ones I've not repaired I've not charged the customer.

“Ridiculous”

This company is a joke. I have tried to book them now on three different occassions and after promises of being here on time- they are yet to come. The engineers have no idea that they are expected to be at a job and the person that books in appointments has no idea that an engineer isn't even at work on that day. Never ever use them. You have had a lucky escape. I am £70 out of pocket and my PC still isn't repaired.
I have been advised by an independent engineer that the hard drive has 'gone' and is not repairable.
The PC Callout engineer (and I use the term very loosely) advised that I needed to replace a part. He did not FIX my PC and charged me an hours rate plus VAT for the incorrect diagnosis. He could not have FIXED my PC as he had no parts or equipment and used my WiFi connection to Google error messages on his mobile phone.
Also, when the engineer arrives he will give you a document to sign. Send him back outside whilst you study it before you sign, do not read it in you own time at £60 per hour. DO NOT SIGN IT until you have fully read and understood it. If you do sign take a copy for future reference.

Any one who works in IT knows for a fact that Google is an extremely useful tool for an IT professional. If we are allowed to use Google in a helpdesk environment, why should we not be allowed to use it on site? Just because we look on Google doesn't mean we are stupid or don't know what we're doing. New problems occur with things like windows on a daily basis, Google is the most up to date information.

“Poor service”

I needed an urgent repair to my PC as I was preparing a presentation for a conference. The initial response time was good as was the diagnosis of the problem by the engineer. It was a Friday. He said he would return on Monday or Tuesday to fit 2 parts. On Tuesday I was told by PC Callout's office that one part had arrived and the other was being delivered by courier. “Don't Waste Your Time”

No one called so I chased this morning and got told someone will call me within 30 mins and again no one called. So chased again. I used the Services of PC Callout Ltd to resolve severe malware and viruses problems on my PC. The assigned engineer for Sheffield and ouskirts called Jay is a real Professional. I read the reviews on PC Call Out's website so booked a call as I was having problems with my printer going offline. I made an appointment for an engineer to call at 6.30 last Tuesday. By 7 nothing so I rang the office and was told they would contact him. At 8 when they were closing she rang back and said she had been unable to contact the engineer. “Avoid this company like the plague no fix no fee lies”

This is to warn people not to use this company an engineer came for 2hrs said it was fixed. I am so pleased you reported this company to Trading Standards. I did the same. Hopefully they will collect enough evidence to close this company. They also told me that PC Callout were in breach of contract in my situation too. I also experienced an engineer who did not know what he was doing. PC Callout needs to be avoided at all costs.

Phoned yesterday, engineer booked for 11am same day. Didn't turn up. Phone call received at 11:30 to say engineer was ill and couldn't come. Another appointment made for 9:30 today. No-one came. Contacted them at 10 am. Told engineer still ill and no-one else could come for 2 days. When I complained about lack of service, they said they didn't like my attitude and didn't wnt my custom. “Didn't show up so can't rate the quality”

Arranged for 09:00 engineer to fix proxy server issue. 09:30 no show so called office.
