I would heartily recommend buying a Square Trade warranty on 2nd hand electronics from ebay when given the opportunity.
Ebay is great for buying anything, but in this case electrical items at great prices. The potential problem is that although ebay/paypal will cover you if the item is faulty on delivery, what if the item breaks down in a few months time?
When Square Trade will cover you for two years for just a few dozen pounds, its a no-brainer.
Unfortunately, I needed to claim for a faulty DVD player, and the claims process was straightforward and painless. They approved full reimbursement immediately, sent a courier to collect the faulty item the following day, and the money was in my account within a week.
I bought another identical item on ebay, and bought another square trade warranty on the replacement as I was so happy with the process.
