I purchased a laptop Christmas 2011 for my parents as a gift, I decided to go for a Dell laptop mainly due to price but also to give Dell a 2nd chance to redeem themselves for past experiences I have had about 10 years ago
Since my parents have had this laptop, (that has had a pretty sheltered life, for a laptop) it to be honest has been terribly disappointing. I think the first major disappointment was the hard drive failure late last year where they lost all of there data. Dell did repair it and it seemed to work for about another month when they called me again and said it will not start.
it is now beeping 7 times continuously which on the Dell website points at a processor failure. This means as it just out of warranty that we might as well throw it away and order a new laptop.
If you want something reliable, don't choose a Dell
