“Exorbitant charges and poor customer service”

Written on: 09/04/2014

My advice - avoid and spend a little extra elsewhere. They obviously (considering other reviews) offer cheap premiums via compare the market (who I wont be using again either if this is the type of company they refer you to). I purchased a policy and paid over £268. Within 3 weeks, I had to sell the car and cancelled my policy. Here where the problems started. (1) They use a premium rate call line, so any call you have to make costs a fortune. (2) To avoid the premium rate, I used the 'web… Read Full Review

Seems to be a trend with this company, just taking peoples money, and ripping them of. Had my policy cancelled after they said they didn't receive copies of all my documents sent around 15 emails V5 all pages, driving licence proof ncd and named driver docs. Only had policy 3 months. Only wanted to pay me back £72 out of the £456 I paid. Don't like one thing about this company STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY… Read Full Review

“Autonet Insurance.....Use at your peril !!!!”

Written on: 16/03/2014 by Lennox1947 (1 review written)

I took out a trade policy with Autonet,October 2013. I was given a quote of £1530.00 for a twelve month cover. After accepting this quote, they came back to me saying they had made a mistake and my premium was now over £1700.00p.I reluctantly accepted this,as I was already on cover. February 2014,I contacted them to ask for a quote to add a second driver to the policy, after several weeks,I got a response, quoting over £1100.00p to add the driver for the remaining 7 months of the insurance… Read Full Review

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I’m sorry to hear you are unhappy with the cancellation charges applied to your policy and the cost of your proposed new policy. I can also see you are unhappy with the customer service you received. Please accept my apologies for this; it is not the usual level of service we aim to provide at Autonet and we will provide feedback to the departments involved.

As an insurance broker, we work with many different insurers, who offer different concessions to different brokers. This means that customers may get offered a different price from the same insurer, depending on which broker they have used. This helps to provide a competitive market for customers. However, we are shocked that you were offered such a different price with the same insurance company and as such, will look into this.

We take your feedback seriously and are always looking for ways to improve the service we offer to our customers. If you would like us to look into your comments further, please could you get in touch, using the contact details given on our Review Centre page. We would need your contact details such as name, address, post code and/ or Autonet reference number.

I wish you could consider all of these negative feedbacks as a serious matter not individually.
Unfortunately after two years that my van was insured with your company there was no improvement in your services, for instance my insurance is due to end and sent you email twice to cancel my insurance policy, as I expected have not received any reply from your company and have to call and wait for a long time on the phone and if I am lucky will talk with someone.

STAY AWAY from this company. I have recently had trouble cancelling my van insurance with them. I expected a cancellation fee but not up in the triple figures mark. Got to FOS and make a complaint I did this. My charge for cancellation went from over £200 to £194 to £70 to £40 ??? I still refused to pay. They rang me every day about 3 or 4 times and made threats of debt collections and bailiffs. I went to FOS and made a complaint. They are well known to FOS. Today I got a call saying they will no longer chase this money and my account is closed and clear

Cheapest price going from price comparison sites which was good , but was unable to add business insurance for another job .To be fair Staff quite polite when calling to cancel with over 3 months remaining refund was minimal and laborious to action . Have no idea what they would be like if one had a claim . To be fair staff friendly when called but premier rate line for customer service which I dislike. When complaining by internet referred to premier rate phone line .Is this why the price… Read Full Review

“Unpleasant and Unfair Attitude to Customers”

Written on: 20/12/2013 by earthman2001 (0 reviews written)

I applied online through a comparison site. Picked up on this broker and called them. They went through the application again on the phone. Then said they needed to go through yet again with another operator. Three times. When the policy came through they had STILL made errors and not recorded my details exactly as I had given it to them. I asked if they wanted my NCB document. They said no, not at the moment. Two weeks later I got a curt standard letter from their Head of Service telling me… Read Full Review

I have similar issues with them and would ask anybody thinking of taking out insurance with them to give them a wide berth. I cancelled my home insurance via e-mail with them on 30 of September 2013 and 6 days later they sent out a new policy. In addition they also collected funds from my bank account, even although I had cancelled this policy. When I cancelled my standing order, they then sent out a letter to say my 'Car Insurance policy' had not been paid. Unless I paid within 7 days, £25 would be added to my account!! This is despite several phone calls to their office and broken promises that someone would phone me back.
To date despite the confusion as to what policy I am supposed to be in arrears with, I still await a reply. It is extremely strange that the e-mail I sent and confirmation letter cancelling my insurance apparently were never received by Autonet. Strange when you consider all other communication, e.g. replies to e-mails etc. have been received. My advice for anyone considering taking out insurance with them, is to stay away from these cretins. You have been WARNED!!

Here here!!!! I have just cancelled my Autonet insurance due to me selling my car, so the insurance was no longer required,
and what a bunch these have turned out to be. I read the reviews before purchasing the cover, but as they were
the cheapest, I decided to overlook the bad feedback, what a mistake that was, first they asked for driving
licence and proof of no claims which I sent through as an e-mail, then they told me they had not received it and
threatened to cancel the policy, so I resent it, thus managing to keep myself covered, then all the problems
with the finance company this bunch use, which was Close Consumer, asking for bank details several times, and
again threatening to cancel the agreement and sending me a termination fee, eventually sorted that out. Happy
at last, everything sorted and cover in place. Then came the car sale, and the cancellation of the policy, first
contact with the company Autonet, at 10p a minute, not a cheap call, customer services not able to act
independently, and is totally scripted, could not give me any solid information over the phone, apart from
confirming that the policy was cancelled, then told me there was a cancellation fee of anything up to £70,
nothing exact, just anything, and it would be worked out and sent out to me, not good enough. Eventually finished
the call after about half an hour. A few day's later, I received a letter stating I was entitled to a refund,
and that the funds would be in my bank within 7 day's, good news I thought, not that bad after all. And then the
bombshell hit's, a couple of day's later, I get a letter from Close Consumer Finance threatening again that they
have had no payment and will pursue legal action to cover admin fees etc. So Again I call Autonet and ask why,
to which they say to ignore it as there was a cross of information, and that Close Consumer Have been notified,
and also that they are sending out the bill for the cancellation fee!!!!
But I had a letter stating I had a refund owing to me, not me owing to them, but apparently that was wrong!!!!!
So they send me a bill, now stating I owe them £39.25, sent second class, over the weekend, and including the day
it was sent, saying I have 7 days to settle, 1 day to raise the letter, 1 day to post the letter, 2 day's weekend,
and 1 day to receive the letter from Mr Posty, That's about 5 day's out of the seven. The reason I went with them in the first place was because money was tight, so I have 2 days to make sure finances are covered enough
to pay this fee. Today I receive another letter dated 29th Nov 2013, Today is the 3rd Oct 2013 with a final notice,
again with 7 days, or legal action and costs will be included. I'll tell you what Autonet, you'll get the money,
as soon as funds are available, and then you can go take a hike. I wouldn't recommend you to my worst enemy, never
mind a friend.
People avoid this so called company like the plague.

And to top this bunch of imbeciles off, I got a letter from Lion Debt Recovery, (which is part of the same pretend company that goes by the name of Autonet.) with cost's attached to the "outstanding balance" on Friday, with threatened legal action etc etc. They sent this after they had received the cheque I had sent them, and 1 day before the funds had cleared from my account. An absolute bunch of no good wasters. Once again. another phone call at 10p per minute to sort this one out, and all due to their incompetence. Biggest mistake ever, getting involved in this company. They're closing words were.... Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Yes! I said, don't ever contact me again offering your useless, no good services. And I hope this get's sent to your bosses, who will no doubt just say,,,,,,
There's plenty more idiot's out there that will buy our so called services, so we can screw them for every penny they've got.
Hopefully, this time, good riddance Autonet.
