i will never use go compare.com if they let companies like Autonet rip of merchants to trade through their web site, i insured my van with them, they had number plate for my van and added breakdown cover, couple weeks after the van wouldnt start so i called them and they sent RAC, when i RAc turned up they said oh we cant tow this van we need bigger truck to tow it because Autonet only paid for small van, when i called them and complained, then i i received letter saying they cancelled... I bought the car insurance through compare the market, in this time of austerity, I obviously went for the cheapest. Enter AUTONET INS, very well priced indeed. This company has a very good facade. Attractive site, cheap rates at the outset. All the right words talking about being one of the UKs largest brokers, like to give value for money etc. But when you look at the reality behind the facade, ie the terms and conditions, you see the way they make their money. £40 for Legal Protection, which costs them less than £1, if not less (they use an obscure company based in Denmark). I suppose that nowadays we are all driven to keep our costs down but sometimes these turn out to be false economies. Autonet Insurance is a prime example of this. As long as you prepared to jump through all the hoops that they will undoubtedly ask you to you do once you have paid your deposit, then that's fine but beware, fail to jump through just one hoop and it could cost you anything from £30 to £50 each time. Driver licence requirment total pain, they claimed to have sent a letter requesting additional paper part copy, of course never arrived here, then 18 days later a letter gin=ving me 2 business days to find it and get a copy to them, hard when you are not home! Refund policy a big rip off. 0871 number for service says it all. Nothing to like here except what initially seems a low attractive price. Avoid if at all possible, go elsewhere! (read more)

After going through the driving license agro everyone else did it was plain sailing until my van broke and had to be replaced. Becuase it was 2.8tonne load carrier not a 2.7tonne and the fact it was 85hp instead of the 100HP originally they came to the conclusion it warranted an additonal £800 payable on the day for the remaining 7 months of a £1200 policy. Just cannot get any body to call me back. Premium rates for calls and 6 minutes on hold, to call customer services. Cancelling a policy is just not economic. Excellent at sales Appalling at customer service. You somehow know you're being tricked by premium rate call charges. They offer cheap rates but just don't deliver aftersales. Absolutely appalling state of affairs at Autonet. Nothing but chaos and confusion prevails at this company. Emails sent in error, repeated requests for documents even after sending them on three times, and so on goes the story. I am currently with them but just praying I don't have to make a claim. NO RATING!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO FRIEND Autonet cancelled my insurance after requesting a copy of my driving licence. Having explained to them I was still awaiting the photocard licence from DVLA direct. They then sent a bill for £138 with no explanation to this amount. I advise anyone to challenge them, to contact the financial service ombudsmen and to contact their local trading standards. They need closing down ASAP. No customer service whatsoever!!! (read more)

Paid in full the annual premium by credit card. They claimed they had no record of this - despite the amount is shown as autonet Insurance on my credit card bill. Was lured by competitive price on comparison site - should have followed the adage if it looks too good to be true it probably is! The customer service is appalling, probably the worst I have ever experienced. Once purchased I received an email advising documents attached, but they weren't. The email address was a 'do not respond' and gave a telephone number. Customer support is a total waste of time phoned 3 times and never got through after more than 15 mins to a 10p per min line, emailed customer support 5 times regarding important matters about insurance and no reply after 5 days. After taking out my van insurance they have bombarded me with letters telling me I'm 'now fully covered' and then written further down the letter they require additional information, all within 7 days of their letter being sent to me, which isn't enough time. They will not communicate via email. They have asked me to call them on the premium number. Terrible customer service, waiting for at least 20-30 mins (at 10p a minute) before ever getting to talk to anyone, once you do they'll be very unhelpful and insist they've sent you things like the certificate despite numerous phone calls to indicate it has not arrived. My experience is very much the same as the other users. Lousy customer service lots of add on charges and penalty,s for daring to change your vehicle. Loss of no claims if you want to go to another company. My quote from gocompare was lower than what they charged over the phone. The first quote was for £900 when I challenged this they said that they had made a mistake and it should have been £600. Had a good quote from them for my van insurance which we paid in full at the start of the policy. Sold the van due to change in circumstances with still 3 months left on insurance, wanted to charge £50 cancellation fee and no refund on the remaining months of insurance. We asked for invoice for payment (there was no way i was going to make this easy for them) within a week (over the Christmas holidays) they sent a letter threatening court action if payment wasn't received in the next 7 days... I have also had the same experience with Autonet - they were aware of a previous small claim on another policy (in fact they came back to me before i said i wanted to go ahead and take out the policy - with the date of the incident and the value of the claim) and still sold me a policy they later claimed was incorrect - thus trying to charge me a lot more money to either change or cancel my policy. I refuse to pay anything more than the £112 i did for the 3 weeks use of the vehicle, and now they are trying threatening to take me to court unless i pay them another £209. Needless to say i am not happy!

Despite having paid the £50 and other fees to stop policy, I cannot get them to release my details ie No Claims status for the new firm. Its been a month now and still no sign of anything despite calls and letters. Had a renewal notification ,way more expensive than other brokers.i rang and asked them why comparison sites offer the same policy through autonet but upto £100.00 cheaper.I was given a compleat load of bull**** by a customer service agent with attitude who,having realised she was getting nowhere came out with even more rubbish.My advice is don't renew through them do it through a comparison site and get a much better price for the same product. I have seen some good and bad reviews about Autonet but as a friend recommended to use them i had a quote. the Sales staff were very friendly and managed to beat any previous quote i had. I did have to spend some time going through my details with an 'Audit' department before i could pay but i like that they double checked everything for me. The price quoted was far less than the price I eventually had to pay. After a final demand for another £50.00 I tried to cancel policy but they would only refund half my money despite having had the policy for less than 1 month. Will now have to wait 1 year to cancel, I will never use this company again. (read more)

had really good service from this company. i had never heard of the them so had a quote and got a good price. i will return to them next year and recommend to my friends who need van insurance. the staff were chatty but with useful information rather than hard selling and the extra products when explained well are a real benefit. I got my renewal and it was higher than i expected. I found Autonet via the yellow pages and went through the online form and found it easy. I got my price and bought online. I was going to check that all was ok but i recieved an email and confirmation information within minutes. I would recommend them.
