The problem with cafe Nero is that you never know what you're getting. I used to stop regularly at the one at St Pancras station cause the coffee is ok and the staff were always friendly and cheerful.Unfortunately, this seems to be the exception rather than the rule.
At the store in Piccadilly my encounter with one member of staff has ensured that I never visit another Cafe Nero again. The girl at Piccadilly was rude and offensive and complained about having to 'look after' customers. Not a great attitude for someone who works in customer service.
Cafe Nero in London only seems to employ people over from Europe on extended holidays and there never seems to be any management around so maybe it's not surprising that a some of the staff are not too bothered about the level of service they provide as they are only looking to make some holiday money anyway. That's all fine, but when you're spending between 5 and 10 pounds for a coffee or two and a piece of cake, then as a customer you really deserve better.
