I was shopping at the TopShop in Fashion Show Mall, Las Vegas, Nevada and I purchased a necklace. I originally thought it $30.00 but it was actually $80.00 my mistake....at the register I decided to go ahead & purchase the item & decide at home whether or not I felt it was worth the $80.00. I decided the next day that I wanted to return it. I was at a eye doctor appointment in the opposite end of a large mall, so my husband went to return it for me with the credit card used and the original receipt. Well, he was told very rudely that he couldn't return it without my ( the purchaser) drivers license...so he hikes it back to the other end if the mall to get my license & hikes it back to the TopShop thinking he will complete the refund transaction...oh no...now they tell him that the manager wants to see me in person in order to authorize the refund. He asks to speak with the store manager to try & reason with her, but was told she was on the phone. He waited around while the two very young sales associates were being very rude to him, for the manager to eventually get off the phone and talk with him. Well, she was supposedly continuously on the phone & never came out of her office to speak with my very mature & patient husband. She passed on a message to him through the sales associates saying that I must be present or there will be no return. No where in the posting of their return policies does it say that the purchaser must be present in person. So, in the end I had to go hike it over to TopShop to get this small nuisance of a transaction handled. Even then when I was there in person asking for the manager, she was nowhere to be found ( still on the phone) and the staff was really rude about the refund...until I mentioned I would be yelping and posting internet reviews did they try to be a bit more professional & polite. By that time it was too late. I wouldn't be a customer of theirs based on my age & the inferior quality of their inventory, but I do understand throw away fashion and have two 20something daughters who might have enjoyed a few pieces, and more importantly I'm a fashion stylist and have a large clientele with a cross section of ages many would be appropriate for this retailer. In good conscience I would never do business with them again, and certainly would suggest my clients stay far away from TopShop because most of my clientele don't personally handle their own returns. Over such a small transaction and simple request to accommodate its a shame that it was such a negative experience.... Even the shopping vibe in the store was unpleasant.
