Appaling online delivery service

I recently placed an online order for around £90 which contained two items I needed for a work event plus a really pretty pair of sale shoes and a blazer to accompany a wedding outfit plus some other items.

I chose an evening delivery slot the day before the work event but the order never arrived. Apparently there was a query over my address by the courier company so they just refunded my money and returned the order! I was furious as I had been waiting in and then stuck without my items and after some investigation I was told that the courier company still had the parcel and would re-deliver that evening. Even better, as I had already been refunded I should keep the parcel free of charge as a gesture of goodwill! It seemed a bit too good to be true and it certainly was - it never arrived so a second evening waiting in was wasted.

I went online to re-order and of course the shoes I wanted were out out stock in my size. More phone calls and I was told that it was impossible to to re-send the parcel, they couldn't answer why the courier didn't deliver or what the query was, but they could see from his tracking he had been no-where near my house. All I can do is wait for my shoes to be re-loaded on the website and re-order. I work full time so the chance of being online to do this at exactly the right time is just not going to happen.

I was given a refund but this goes no way to rectifying the situation - I don't want the money I want my order and they are not willing to do anything to help me source the shoes I am so desperate for.
Very poor service and let down by a terrible courier company and false and unrealistic promises which is a shame as I have been a perfectly happy store customer for many years but this apparently counts for nothing.
