“Infected earpiercing”

★★☆☆☆

written by carolannG on 26/07/2011

On may the 5th of this year myself and two of my friends decided to get our cartilage piered on our ear at Claire's. Everything seemed great, we got served pretty fast and the woman who pierced our ear wore cloves, cleaned the ear before the piercing and then marked our with a pen ear where we asked to earring to go. Iam lucky and able to wear any kind o earrings in my ears so i asked for a clear sterling silver stone stud but was given a pink sterling silver stone stud. When the girl pushed the gun through my ear it got stuck and she had to twist the earring out so as you can imagine this didnt help at all but everything seemed fine but a few days passed but my piercing began to hurt and so did my friends. I bought tcp to see if this would help because i thought it was just tender and needed a good clean but the pain was so sore weeks later i couldnt even touch anywhere near the piercing. I decided that i would be best if i just removed the piercing and so did my friend which was a complete waste of £30.

Now two months later, i have my cartilage pierced again and went to a piercing studio and everything has been absolutely fine, not one bit of pain or discomfor unlike a full two weeks of pain from claires.

In claire's they push the back of the earring in far too tight which leaves little room to turn the piercing or even clean behind it.

I would not reccomed getting your caltilage pierced at clarie's to anyone because i have experienced and heard so much about ears getting infected.

I think the after care form the staff read to you does clearly state this may happen... and TCP? The system pushes the back onto the earring, not the staff btw...
