“nice old chuffer”

Written on: 17/03/2012 by fat_cat_jimmy

quite nicly finsished - still looks gorgeous after 5 years outside, handles and steers brilliantly, braking adequate, does about 75mpg. mine has a 26mm amal carb and fruity silencer (both recommended, but quite loud) and maxs out at about 75mph, whirrs along at 60mph comfortably. gearbox is dreadful but part of the old school feel - no good in city traffic as a result. Had a maddening problem with a porous carb manifold spacer which took a year to track down (running weak, poor starting, spitting back)- now fixed and back in my good books. Useless for anything but country lane chuffing, but strangely addictive contraption - you already knw if you want one. would never sell mine.
