Shtiffirg's review of Vue

“Run down, tired and fifthy”

★★★☆☆

written by Shtiffirg on 07/01/2014

It was the first time in Vue at Exeter. The building is not that old but has not been cared for and is looking very tired. Staff were friendly but were apologizing for it all the time; not all the current films were advertised in the foyer and we had to ask if the film we'd come CTO see was actually showing. "Oh yes, it takes ages for them to get around to changing them", ('them' being the management and signage, respectfully).

Then there was the theater itself which we had the unfortunate experience of entering whilst the lights were up. It was disgustingly filthy. Empty bottles, cups and cartons littered the place, broken crisps, popcorn and other food detritus was scattered over seats and floor. We had to brush our seats before we could sit. A few minutes before the fim started a lone cleaner appeared and lethargically removed some of the bottles and cartons, but that was all. He could not have been in the theater more than sixty seconds.

The film was good, the cinema experience poor.
